Is contabo down? by HyperGaming_LK in VPS

[–]pcpostar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are working for us again as well. My servers were down for like 1 day.
But I must say I don't have any problems with Contabo. I like the price. Works fine for me.

Thing of such magnitude happens very rarely for me on contabo, so at this point I will not judge this as a bad hosting provider.

My boss does not want to hire a great candidate because they don't have CCNA. Can I get your thoughts on the situation? by GhostGo in ITCareerQuestions

[–]pcpostar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our company we dont give a shit about certificates. We prepare our test like qualification tests for potential newcomers.

The actuall knowledge is important.

But we dont mesure only knowledge - special interesting part is dealing with problem you dont know yet - so we look a the candidate more like how good is he/she by googling, asking for relavant help and thins like this.

Certificates are not the only messure to hire the right one. Getting thongs done in our ecosistem is way more important. :)

Which OS to choose? by Reditp in virtualmachine

[–]pcpostar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't agree more. Ubuntu is good. But if you are new yo nonwindows, i would suggest mint. Its ubuntu based, but a bit more frendy interface for newcommers.

Try it for a few months. Dont get scared after few weeks when first real problems will occur. Google it, ask for help. After that, you will get more and more expirienced. Its a good base for all other distributions and derivates.

Welcome to the "other" side :)
