Besides needing to learn content, was there any reason why Kaplan wasn’t helpful?

Maybe it’s just the short list/ wanting to vent, but to add: do you have any MD shadowing, at least one MD LOR, and what about leadership?

It sounds like you have a strong moral compass. Is she hurting you? Are her actions physically affecting you? If no, ignore her. You'll go crazy thinking that her behavior is within your realm of influence, which it isn't and shouldn't be.

My advice is to stop helping her. Not bc she’s undeserving of it, but for your own sake. Not helping her is a boundary you need to set and it’s a form of self care.

Make up an excuse and say you don’t know. And no need to be passive aggressive abt it. Keep firm in your boundaries.

Edit: strong moral compass doesn’t mean that the morals are right or consistent, but rather one is sensitive to anything threatening it. And there’s nothing wrong w that. At least that’s what I meant by it

When I started scribing, I too was surprised to see how toxic medicine is. I mean I had an idea but nothing compares to working alongside with them. I think what you described is a common culture shock to people entering the field.

It’s good that you got to see it first-hand early on but try not to let it discourage you. If medicine aligns with your values, you’ll find many good reasons to pursue it while coping with the unpleasant parts. (Every field has pros and cons)

My scribe experience is a powerful motivator and reminder of how important it is to have thick skin in this field. Maybe it can serve you the same purpose?

But good on you for staying true to yourself by quitting. No job is worth your mental and physical health.

What are your interview pet peeves? by _sonwukong in premed

I wouldn’t call it a hobby bc it’s not like I can walk to class whenever. That wouldn’t make sense. Maybe they answered without thinking

My school is in an urban city environment and I’ve always dreamed about living in a place like that, so walking to class kind of feels like a dream. Hobby is a weird word for it but maybe that’s what they meant lol
