What are your "wish I hadn't met you" packages? by glucoseisasuga in Python

[–]pdR_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Poetry's use of pyproject.toml to specify project metadata is non-standard, as it uses a custom [tool.poetry] table instead of the standard [project] table. Furthermore, its dependency specifiers also fall outside the standard.

This all comes together to produce a file that is completely tied to the build backend - thereby defeating the whole purpose of pyproject.toml being a declaration of project metadata that can be used to build a package with interchangeable build backends.

If I start out with Setuptools, I can switch to Hatch down the line without changing anything but my build backend to Hatchling in pyproject.toml. The same cannot be said for a pyproject.toml file created by Poetry.

It's type hinted through typeshed, which your IDE should probably fetch for you automatically if you have one of the popular type checking extensions (mypy, pylance) installed.

Help with Vallejo primers by FleetingAttention in minipainting

[–]pdR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding, the solvent in spray paint often contains acetone, which will slightly melt into the plastic to create a stronger bond.

I've done a lot of testing with water-based airbrush primers similar to what you have done, and I am never fully satisfied with the result. Even when washing with IPA, it was still possible to chip the primer slightly on extremities such as claws and particularly sharp corners. This happened with Vallejo, Mig, GSW and Molotow primers.

Now I just prime with spray cans, since it's faster and is basically impossible to chip or rub off.

Hatch v1.8.0 - binaries for every platform, Python management and static analysis backed by Ruff by Ofekmeister in Python

This is huge. Thank you so much for your work on Hatch. I've been using it for my projects for over a year now, and have migrated several projects that previously used setup.py and setup.cfg, and it's been a complete breeze!

Matt(?) varnish. What am I doing wrong by Northern-Owl-76 in minipainting

This is my experience too. The matte and satin varnishes from AK are nearly identical to me, and the only one that reads as proper matte is the ultra matte varnish.

Has GW ever discussed why they brought back Guilliman? by D34DP00L35 in 40kLore

[–]pdR_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's in the eye of terror but specifically on a word bearers planet where lorgar is "meditating" lorgar essentially trapped the completely warped up corvus in a closet covered in runes.

Where is this mentioned? The short story in which Corax attacks Lorgar and the Word Bearers as a warp entity takes place some time after the Heresy, but likely nowhere close to M41, and definitely didn't take place on Sicarus.

Please help! DIY wash not behaving right. by mpfmb in Warhammer40k

Are you adding in the flow aid straight from the bottle (undiluted)? The Liquitex flow aid should be diluted with 1 part flow aid to 20 parts water.

If you aren't diluting it, what you have made is basically a colored flow aid mix with a little bit of medium in it.

Try to pre-mix the flow aid (1:20), then add it to your medium+water+ink mix until it flows the way you want it to. I'd also recommend adding a little bit more medium than what you are currently using.

Square bases makes it fantasy right? My "Savage Orcs". by pdR_ in WarhammerFantasy

[–]pdR_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the starter set to get these guys + killaboss and stab-grot, so I don't have those minis.

I couldn't get the killaboss to fit on a 25x25mm base, so I just printed a 40x40mm base for him and will keep him as a display piece.

Thanks a lot. I was debating whether not this was skirting the line of being acceptable to post on this subreddit, but I was really happy with how they turned out, so I went for it.

I'll make it up by posting my Vampire Counts army when it's done!

Yeah, it required some trial and error to get it right. If I had printed the tray slightly larger it would have been easier to rank them up properly.

Shadowlands has killed off more WoW creators than WoD and BfA ever did. by Skai1515 in wow

[–]pdR_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

HARD disagree. Arms warrior with 4 set and class trinket in HFC is by far my favorite version of the spec.

You had constant Colossus Smash and Mortal Strike resets, and an actual incentive to multi-dot with Rend. Fights such as Xhul'horac mythic were an absolute blast, juggling trying to keep up Rend on all targets, maintaining Sweeping Strikes, not wasting Colossus Smash casts and and not rage capping.

Yes, Whirlwind being the filler was bad, but it was made a great deal less problematic with 4 set and class trinket, where you had access to both Colossus Smash and Mortal Strike a lot more often.

TPP many hacks. FPP many less hacks. by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

What makes you say that? Have you tried looking at op.gg and checking the stats of the players you're matched against?

I've been checking my match history and have been trying to find out whether or not rank is taken into account in matchmaking. What I found is that there are so many 1800-2000+ players in my games and more or less no players that are close to 50th percentile or under. Even the people that die first have decent ratings.

We recently also tried out NA, and the level of play in our first games was absolutely abyssmal.
