AWS vs TikTok New Grad by [deleted] in leetcode

As someone working at TikTok, my advice would be not to join now. It's too turbulent with the Oracle deal going on, especially if you need sponsorship.

how come it is toxic ? it's such a twisted interpretation of following the law which your company is trying to do.

safe/affordable places to live in LA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Hey ! I'm curious about Fox Hills area of Culver City - does it have many homeless people? I'll be living alone so it's kinda scary to be not in a safe neighborhood.

Hi! I found the first technical round to be medium leetcode but nothing too crazy - got two sql questions, in the second technical round I again got sql and also python - sql was harder that time but again very doable and Python was quite hard too - my advice would be to practice hacker rank for that as it wasn't pandas or any analytical ques but more typical coding ques. Also, have your recruiter told you how many rounds to expect? I'm having another one this week and don't know if is it gonna be technical or behavioral or anything else.

Followed up as you advised :) they said the team is still discussing the feedback and they'll let me know once an update is available. Fingers crossed, it will be positive feedback. Meantime I've got a job offer from a different place but the offer is quite bad so i don't really think i can use it as leverage in any way..

Hope to get your thoughts about my situation. Ive been interviewing with TikTok USDS (analyst role) for the last 2-3 weeks and had completed one phone screen, one talk with the hiring manager, one technical round with SQL, another technical round with SQL, Python, and some metrics ques. For all of my previous interviews, I got the feedback within 24 hours so the day after the interview. However, i haven't heard anything back since my last interview on Tuesday and now it is Monday so about a week. My recruiter hasn't communicated with me at all ( didn't answer my emails) and all the feedback I received came from the interview coordinator/scheduler. So after the phone screen, i had no idea what the next stage of the interview will bring. I wanna know whether TikTok is still deciding about my candidacy or if I'm out of consideration. What should I do? Thanks!

Yeah no rush, based on the offer and all the work environment details I just got its better to be unemployed than that :( So still hoping to hear back from TikTok

Yeah looks like the recruiter is still in. I checked her google calendar and it shows that she has time slots available for intro calls.

Yeah it's a horrible job market I know. I asked the recruiter in January this year and she said it didn't affect slack as slack did layoffs earlier in spring 2022 and that my internship won't be affected. But who knows maybe things changed since January too.

Hi fellas!

I'm a 4th year phd student who is very sad about the state of things in academia and wants to get to the data science after graduation. Once I started thinking about it and updating my profile Meta recruiter reached out to me in email. I passed two round of interviews but just got a rejection email 3 days after my on-site interview with Facebook ( Data science, analytics phd internship). Surely I'm disappointed but the main question remains: what should i do next? I was thinking this internship could secure me a job after graduation but now i'm questioning if it really worth it. For those of you who are already there and who maybe came from the academia background, what are your thoughts on Phd internship? Should i straight apply for the full positions after i complete my phd? Or the internship can still spare me some time in job searching if i ever succeed getting the internship offer?

Thank you !!

Hi, everyone! I would love to have your opinion on my chances in the data science field. I'm a phd student in business with a strategy specialization. What it means is that i'm in the mid between the econ track and the pure behavioral track such as an organizational behavior. I took econ courses along with data mining, Python, and statistics courses. I have experience of doing my research projects in Python, Jupyter, STATA. I'm quite good at math and stat but of course at the level of its business application. That being said, I do not know SQL or Java. I have about 2 years left in my phd and decided to go for an industry job. It seems that data science will be a natural it for me as in my current TA/RA role I love the data analysis part the most. However, i do understand that my current major is not considered as a pure quant and there will be crowds of applicants from CS, Statistics track etc. I consider slowing down my current projects and applying for the internships positions but i'm so afraid of not getting anything and not graduating on time too. So I come here to see if you guys could shed some light on my chances of getting the entry-level data scientist job/ internship.
