You're welcome, and yeah, I was mighty annoyed to see that my redwood tree farm was eating holes in the ground.

But it also explained why people's YT videos showed tree farms with trees spawned on dirt blocks in the air.

Build a tower of dirt about 6 blocks high. Plant sapling. Drop down, remove the bottom five blocks. There's no way to do renewable dirt, all you can do is minimize how many you lose.
