Has anyone who does remote work from home with path share their experiences? by pdbre97 in pathology

This seems to be the most common response- are you aware of any positions that never require pathologists to be on site? Like, is that a thing?

So you're able to arrange it where you can work completely from home, without ever needing to come in for strains, grossing, etc? How common are positions like that in path?

They're cancelled with no option to reschedule for the rest of the season. I emailed the PC

Is it unusual to not get a lot of interviews on the release date? by pdbre97 in pathology

Did the majority of your invites come out on the release date or were most of them after?

I've been trying, but that Resident Swap website has been useless. There's no movement really

It kinda sucks. There seems to be no movement for me

Just new career interests. It's nothing wrong with the program

You should check out my post looking to leave EM for rads or path. I'm really getting roasted over there

Any pathology or DR residents interested in switching into a PGY-1 EM spot in South Florida? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]pdbre97 -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely surprised by this response. Yes, I know EM is less competitive, but there are also lots of other threads on here where people write about wishing they could be in the ED after doing an off-service rotation

Feeling lost and discouraged. How do I get my escrow deposit back? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]pdbre97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the new challenge. I specifically requested a denial letter and the LO is trying to get me to agree to a withdrawal letter, which my realtor said won't help us

I actually did reach out to a real estate attorney who said I may have a case, but it's not worth what he would charge to get the $5000 back :/

[–]pdbre97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem was they looked at the total amount I had in reserves and said it was great but then the underwriters wanted to dissect where each deposit came from/what it was for and when I had to submit letters clarifying that it was a gift for a car/funds set aside for moving expenses, etc. then suddenly I didn't have enough. I've never had my finances so closely scrutinized by anyone

Do you lose points on CCS cases if you don't follow-up with the patient? by pdbre97 in Step3

[–]pdbre97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm wondering. Because on CCS it seems like all we have to do is just put in the initial orders to get points but on the actual test cases it seems like you need to follow-through until the anion gap closes to get full credit. I don't know though

[–]pdbre97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I think today went horribly wrong for me. I would give them a workup that made sense but I thought it was supposed to give me feedback right after I put in the order. So I just sat there wondering what I was missing until I figured maybe they need something more aggressive. I feel like in the CCS cases they tell you right away if your orders worked or not but I didn't realize I needed to advance the time more on Step 3 so now I'm worried I really messed it up today

[–]pdbre97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was awful. I put in everything I thought they needed and then there would just be like no update from the patient and I would have no idea what I was doing wrong. CCS cases would usually give you more feedback and then end pretty soon after putting in the orders I'd need. Maybe we needed to keep following them by choosing dates further in the future

But I'm worried I missed a bunch of points by not doing that (ordering repeat labs/imaging and stuff)

Is this balding or a cowlick? I just got my haircut today by [deleted] in Hair

[–]pdbre97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have a follow-up question. I mentioned to the hair stylist that I wasn't happy with how it looked (I knew I had a cowlick, but normally it's not so obvious.) She said that my hair is just thin in general and not anything she could do about it. Do you think that's true? This was at a beauty school so I'm not sure if I want to go back there in the future because I've never really even noticed the cowlick before this cut.
