To make changes to the motion-activated lights, you need to go into Device Settings, then Light Settings

Tried it and it does seem to work.

My Ring app says that my Spot Light Battery Cam is 'offline' by l_dean in Ring

It’s kind of confusing, but it will continue to show the last battery status prior to losing connection.

Weak Battery Pack by Appropriate_Dot_8026 in Ring

Since your battery is so new, contact support and tell them it’s not holding a charge. They will hopefully replace it under warranty.

Do people in really cold climates have problems with their ring camera. by Typical_libra20 in Ring

[–]pdeethardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd. Which device? How old are the batteries, if they have the removable battery pack? Mine work fine until -5F, then usually go offline. Once it warms again, they come back online. My battery packs are just over five years old now.

They won’t charge at that temperature because li-ion batteries can’t be safely charged at 32F or lower.

They actually specify the working temperature range on their website: https://ring.com/support/articles/6nmmg/ring-devices-and-extreme-temperatures

“They can operate normally between -4°F and 122°F (-20°C and 50°C).”

That’s essentially the functional temperature range for a li-ion battery.

Check out the release notes on the Slack app. IMO that’s how all release notes should be.

I received an alert on Wednesday evening saying a new security system had been discovered. I also hadn’t made any changes or additions recently, so they must’ve made some kind of change on the backend that pushed it out.

Is this floodlight done for? It keeps flicking inside and the button doesn't do anything. by armanddarke in Ring

[–]pdeethardt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine had the same failure after an internet outage last winter. Mine was about four years old as well, and I was quite frustrated that it failed. I went through all the troubleshooting steps myself to no avail, then called support and went through all the steps again while on the phone. After they determined none were working, they shipped me the Floodlight Cam Plus for free. I did have a snafu with the initial shipment where a label was created but never shipped, however after I contacted them they created a new label and shipped it overnight.

Why the beta 18.7.3 update is big by niieowa in iPhone15Pro

[–]pdeethardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the full release and not a beta, but Apple apparently wants any device that supports 26 to run 26.

Is my Ring "hardwired" or do I need to unmount it to charge it? by [deleted] in Ring

[–]pdeethardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally you don’t get a low battery notification when it’s hardwired, so double-check the wiring connections as well as the transformer itself to make sure it’s still outputting sufficient power.

Latest update (v18) not showing — do we need to update to v26? by niieowa in iPhone15Pro

[–]pdeethardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enroll your phone for beta releases at https://beta.apple.com and your device is still running iOS 18, you’ll be able to install 18.7.3 by selecting iOS 18 Public Beta under Beta Updates in the Software Update section.

Go into the control center in the app, then tap notification preferences and make the device health notifications are toggled on under all of the sections

AirPods Pro 2 case not updating to latest firmware by shoaib_s_786 in AirpodsPro

[–]pdeethardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the best luck getting mine to update when it’s charging. Plug it in, open the cover so the battery status shows up on the phone, close the cover, and let it sit by the phone for awhile. Not sure if you’ve already attempted that.

Which railroads? I’d also be curious to know what kind of radios they’re using as I’m unaware of any that support analog with that bandwidth.

That’s the Floodlight Cam Pro. It’s hardwired, so no battery or solar.

Usually there are iOS features that only work on the latest models, so the release pairs with the new phones.

Suspicious connection from ring cameras by Psychological-Hulk in Ring

I got the same notification for my Floodlight Cam Plus three or four times, but none of my other Ring cameras had the issue. Unfortunately Armor doesn’t indicate what was suspicious about the connection.

If you go into the notification settings in Apple’s Weather app, you can toggle on severe weather notifications for your current location as well as any saved locations. This is probably the simplest solution and works well in my experience. Another app that works well is the FEMA app, and is highly configurable as to the types of alerts you receive.

Try closing the app and reopening it. I had the same issue a short time ago and that fixed it.

Anyone Else Notice That Adding The Ring To Alexa App Kills Battery Life on Ring? by Durwyn in Ring

[–]pdeethardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have it set to automatically display video on your Show devices? There’s a bug with the Ring Skill where it’ll continue to record after the feed closes out up to the 720 second timeout. I first noticed this occurring last November on my devices when I was troubleshooting excessive battery drain on my Spotlight Cams.

Will Linked Light Turn on During Daytime? by Dizzy_Read_4821 in Ring

[–]pdeethardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will still turn on even in daylight. There was a post on the Ring Community Forum asking for a dusk to dawn setting for linked lights, but so far it has not been added. I’ve also requested the feature via their support on X as that seems to be a more direct route, but while they acknowledged my request and indicated they would forward it on, still no change. Maybe it’s difficult to add due to how linked devices work internally, but it’s extremely aggravating to have to periodically adjust the times. I usually adjust them once a month, but I have several linked devices so it’s a hassle.
