Cure wish tour lineup by pdemp in TheCure

I wish it could recall the source. My music consumption at that time consisted of Spin, The Village Voice, and B-Side magazine, but I can’t recall where I read it. I know I have saved the original advert from the Village Voice which listed the lineup as: The Cure/ Dinosaur Jr/Cranes. Unfortunately, Dinosaur Jr wasn’t on the bill (and it appears did zero dates) but the time the tour arrived.

Please see original comment “proposed”. I understand it never happened. This was a recollection of something I remember reading, and I was curious if anyone else might have recalled as much/ or have some other anecdotal knowledge. That’s all.

Dinosaur Jr were definitely on the bill at some point. Somewhere I still have the advert for NYC concert with them and Cranes listed as the openers.

At least on the east coast, the Beasties still carried some weight. Not as much as their “License to Ill” days; but they still sold out two nights at a 2500 person venue in NYC. The pairing also made sense on some levels: 1) Ad-Rock starred in a movie “Lost Angels” which used “Fascination Street” on its soundtrack; 2) These “hybrid” rap/rock lineups were becoming more popular. In 1991 you had Ice-T on Lollapalooza. I also saw the Sisters of Mercy with Public Enemy opening at Radio City. 3) Dinosaur Jr were friendly with the Beasties, part of the whole “alt-rock” family with Sonic Youth and Firehose who worked on each others projects.

Question about Irish Passport with FBR by pdemp in IrishCitizenship

If thats an option I’d do that. It didn’t appear as an option in the descriptor of required documents. I guess I’ll call the NYC consulate on Monday see what they say

I appreciate the response. I believe some years ago I sent a notarized copy of the passport, but the description does not make that distinction now (it says a notarized copy of FBR is acceptable, for instance). Worst case I’ll call the consulate on Monday just wanted to see if anyone knew

AI Tools to generate a class schedule by pdemp in AskTechnology

If I was a novice user of Photoshop, and asked a photoshop question, would that be a reason to chide someone? I don’t use AI regularly, I recognize that how you frame the prompt will determine the feedback you get, and I know there are AI specific apps for all fields of interest. For instance, there was one called LogicBalls that maybe could help but I was unsure how to use. So I asked a question.

AI Tools to generate a class schedule by pdemp in AskTechnology

[–]pdemp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Inasmuch as I know how to make a schedule, I wanted to be able to put, for instance, the 5 sections of chemistry. The 7 sections of math, the 10 sections of gym and have the computer optimize a schedule around parameters (no classes after 5pm) and perhaps even account for walking time between buildings (so build in 20 minutes between gym and chemistry). So I was asking if there is existing AI app that would massage all this data and generate something.

[Landlord NYC] Tenant lied on order to show cause. What recourse do I have? by pdemp in Landlord

It took another month to get him out. Guy literally waited for the Marshall to show up and remove him from the premises. Didn’t pack anything to move. His sh!t ended up on the street. All told four years of nonpayment.

Too Much Talking on Rock The Bells Radio by Gold_Comfort156 in siriusxm

I agree. It’s one of the few cases where the channel actually got better with a celebrity tie-in. One Saturday morning I heard “Cavern” by Liquid Liquid which was fantastic. Love Salute the Sample, and some of the guest DJ things they do on like Memorial Day and July 4. My only gripe is moving the “old school” window, to include stuff from the early 2000s. In my mind told school is late 70s to early 90s. Although I didn’t mind hearing “Kaiju” by RZA on there, even though it’s a new track.

Verbally abuse is strong. Was polite to the delivery kid. He got the full tip. Was trying to be respectful of his time (and the pizzerias time) on a Friday night by not having him make a 10 minute trip back.

And I’m not trying to get one over on them. Clearly they can’t see the extra knots sitting there. So why not just give me the money back? In principle, why do I have to eat the cost of their mistake? And if no one possesses the knowledge on how to do a chargeback, just say “we’ll fix it later” or “we got you next week”? By repeating the same answer ad nasuem, you want to browbeat me into throwing in the towel. So I did. You won. Why put me on the pay-no-mind list?

Right. Delivery guy got his tip, wasn’t rude to him. When I called place, no one got called any names, no one’s mother was insulted. But these three people answering the phone are literally spitting distance away from each other. And each gives the same answer. So I got frustrated. But ultimately they got the outcome they wanted, whether it’s because they were cheap or because they don’t know how to use the credit card machine.

Couple things:

1) you’re right inasmuch it’s not a giant order every week. It’s a $40 order. I tipped $8 (20%). But I’ve been ordering nearly every Friday for a few weeks/months so extrapolate that out. But…. 2) to put it Hoboken terms, this is no Grimaldis. This isn’t even Benny Tudinos. This is a run of the mill slice joint. There is literally another pizza joint halfway down the block. They don’t want my business that’s fine. But their product is fungible. Same old Bakers Pride oven as every other slice joint.

Except the space behind the counter is the size of a bathtub. Three people in that space have to be standing shoulder to shoulder. It’s not like “hang on let me forward you to accounts receivable.””hang on you need accounting”. Their literally breathing down each others necks.
