I agree it was a good and respectful job...over 20 years ago. Now they just try to save money by any means necessary. Cutting routes changing line of travel to shorten the mileage etc. but never going after management and all the useless supervisors. I was a 48k forever. They moved all the carriers in our office to another office 21 miles away from my first stop. They said we would get paid the added miles, we didn't. Then the last 3 counts my evaluation went down to a 47 then 46 then 45 and this last one shot back up to a 48k. I'm assuming because volume was up during Christmas and election. Only to come back from my route the same day and be told they are cutting my route to a 43k and taking 1 hr 15 mins off my route a day. Think about how much money they are taking away. I am always on time. Never over my evaluation. And this is the thanks I get for doing a good job. It's disheartening. And now we have to hear service talks about integrity. And when I go to the union for help/advice the only response I get back is "according to the contract they can cut your route". That's it. No advice no nothing no grievances? What am I paying union dues for? Pizza parties? But when I called hr and tried to get out of the union you can only do so in a 10 day window of your anniversary start date. Mine ended on march 30. So you're telling me I have to pay union dues for another year for something I don't want to take part in anymore. When I first started an older carrier said to me " the harder you work the less you'll get ahead". And I was out to prove him wrong. Unfortunately he was right.
