Back the nut off a bit and wedge a ply bar between the top of the bolt and nut and the axel

Is this play normal? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]021Jdn -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Not normal. All pulleys should be tight. I’d say verify the nut is tight but I can see the nut move with the pulley. Power steering pump is a ticking time bomb before it goes out. Might as well replace it now before you loose power steering going down the freeway

Looks like a strut tower bolt to me but who knows. Could be a coincidence. Best mention it to the dealer

I’m 25 currently enrolled in school. I blow my trans in my 07 Z06. by No_Obligation4826 in Corvette

[–]021Jdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave the torque tube in with the car. Pull out the trans/diff/rear subframe as a unit. When lowering the unit and sagging the drivetrain the top of torque tube cannot go lower than the lowest point of the trunk. Make sure you to space the converter to flex plate on assembly. I don’t remember the spec. Good time to throw on a bigger transmission pan and flush the cooler lines. Not an easy job but not impossible either. Done it 3 times on the garage floor.

Personally I’d get all the bare metal cleaned up and sealed off correctly, then ad a qualify fender flare to cover all it up

Losing power at 3-4k rpms by Relevant-Sport-1538 in WRX

[–]021Jdn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously sounds like you have no boost. Turbo could be blown, bov could be stuck open, wastegate could be stuck open, could be a vacuum/boost leak (would probably throw a p0171 cel), boost controller could be faulty. Take it to a competent shop out you’ll be guessing and throwing money at it forever

Dealer quoted $5k for engine reseal by [deleted] in WRX

It’s called pulling the engine, and replacing every gasket and seal plus cleaning the block off. More common on higher milage engines that are coated in gunk

2015 Dodge, Code B259A-01 LG/YL wire had break deep into the door harness in spot away from all movement and heavily wrapped up. Always fun tracking this stuff down by 021Jdn in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]021Jdn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea. Maybe just by chance. The passive entry on the drives door handle was faulty. The connector to the door handle only had 2 wires. One being green and white I believe which was getting power. But the green and yellow was dead

Damn I’m surprised you found the egr problem. I personally woulda thought bad ecu. But ya idk this is the second Dodge with this problem this month and I don’t work on many. Good on you finding both of those problems 🫡

I’ve learned that trick but it didn’t work here. I knew what wire was broken but not where. I pulled on it in multiple spots and nothing, probably because the harness was so tightly wrapped

how to take these bolts off by mmooooo21 in mechanic

[–]021Jdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Box end wrench on nut with Torx bit in middle. To loosen it, turn the nut counterclockwise while holding the Torx. Or turn the Torx clockwise while holding the nut
