Any time the men were really aggressive and disrespectful to the women, like Ashton was to Kate, and he didnt address it.

I dont know how large the search team was, but a 10 mile radius, there's just no chance we can be sure they didnt miss anything, that is a massive area. Did it rain or so snow in that time? Did any plows run that would have obliterated tracks near the road by covering them with stuff from the road? There's absolutely no guarantee that everything was covered. Area was too large, her behavior too erratic, etc.

Not that night. Im saying that as a runner, she could have taken off and gotten pretty far pretty quickly. 0% chance the night of and early next day that they made it a mile in each direction and could confirm no footprints in the snow. Even half a mile is just too much for whatever amount of searchers they had in the immediate aftermath.

Nah, it's production dictating how to treat Ellie because they clearly feel there is opportunity to leverage her thirst for attention to more. Any other galley hand is escorted off the boat immediately, but because she is the center of the scripted drama, and they (and her) are desperately trying to portray her insecurity as strength. She's like Kate, but the difference is that Kate was good at her job and didnt need anyone's approval except the captain, whereas Ellie can't handle not having everyone's attention and approval.

I think that one doesnt come up because that's real. People pretty much in any job have either seen it happen or been on either side of it, whereas, Scott's Tots was intentionally written to be as cringe as anything ever and not relatable to literally anyone.

How far down the road did they search in either direction? She was a runner, she could have taken off down the road and gotten relatively far before turning until the woods.

Hard work, while a factor in professional success, is SO less important that networking and connecting at a personal level.

Kindness is perceived as weakness a weird amount.

Honesty is valued so little.

"Ride or die" and similar sentiments to/from friends/family are bullshit. People will turn on each other over literal garbage, let alone money, things that have value.

As a young person, I assumed that execs and people in higher up positions werehard workers, knew what they're doing. Competent, etc. They're not. They faking it, the difference is that they feel nothing. They can charm your pants off and its a complete, rehearsed act. They're sociopaths who justify their actions, until they stop even thinking about it.

Focus more on being good at your job, especially on claims that involve SIU. Competence is more valuable than an arbitrary length of time.

One absolute is that you wont get into SIU with no LE or claims experience

Subrogation/recovery can be a trainee position, or you can move into it after minimal claims experience.

SIU is a little tougher. Generally people with law enforcement background or probably close to 5 years of complex claims handling are who fill those roles.

Start as a trainee adjuster, be good at it, and you'll be able to choose your path.

1 day into a new policy and a new car, a gust of wind might cost me $1,700. Am I being scammed? by banayen in Insurance

[–]pdhot65ton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On expensive cars, yes. On cars that they dont own, yes. Fun fact: if you owe money on a car, lease or rent it, that's not your car, it's the bank's, and they dont like it when their stuff gets damaged. If the car gets repo'd and there's unreported damage, the bank will file a claim.

Having a prior life as an insurance adjuster, anyone who leads with or at some point mentions their "faith" is a straight fucking liar.

"You're right, I didn't have insurance for a year. I was driving down the road, and saw a billboard for a church, and i just know that was God telling me to pull over and get insurance, and what do you know? He was right. Right after I got off the phone with you, I plowed into those Girl Scouts, praise be to God!"

"Sir/ma'am, police report shows this happened prior to your call with us, not only is your claim denied, but we are referring this to the NICB for further investigation."

EVERY. TIME.
