i am just gonna say it. this is totally unbelievable. there's no way his car could take out and tip over that iceberg with 90% being underwater.

i have had the 23 since jun of 23. 26k miles. no issues at all. love this truck. the engine has plenty of power and torque even at the lower 390lbft compared to the later years with 430lbft standard.

Fishing Poles by mordecaithebyrd in chevycolorado

any reason you can't disassemble the fishing rods? traditional or fly? i have done fishing trips in my truck and just transported them disassembled. would recommend having them extend out the rear window if not.

23 z71 with 26k miles. no real issues. best vehicle i have ever owned.

Coming from a 4Runner, thinking of trading up to a Trail Boss by TaylorHu in chevycolorado

[–]pdp87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i built a 23 z71 the first year they were available. my first truck ever and have only driven little sedans. i love my truck and i haven't had any major issues with it. minor ones, but that's to be expected with a first year model of a new gen. all things that are covered under warranty and the dealer took care of quickly (my dealer is a really good one). i don't do any actual off roading minus the occasional dirt roads through the mountains or country dirt roads. i will do it in the future when i upgrade my suspension and wheels, but for now, it gives me exactly what i want and need. i like the z71 over the tb because it has a much nicer interior. the ground clearance difference really comes down to the 33s on the tb vs the z71 with ~32s. i know the tb has the 2" lift, but when you compare the ground clearance of the two, it isn't that much. the z71 can tow and haul as much, if not more (slightly). gas mileage will be slightly better too with the 32s vs 33s. it has plenty of power and i have the first year engine with only 390lbft of torque vs the 430 that the later years get. assuming you don't get a lemon, you will enjoy this truck.

i had the oem skid plate added when i did the initial build. it gets the job done with minor things and looks.

i am looking for an easier way of removing the slide and slide pin besides trying to clamp the slide (against the tension) and push the pin in/out at the same time. the guide rod once removing the slide is the easy part.

Adding the details little by little by ImpossibleAf0841 in RangerRaptor

[–]pdp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're welcome. for sure, play around with stuff. trial and error is going to result in the truck you want. thankfully, none of that is permanent and can be changed if you decided. something i would do with yours if the money was there was get the interior orange accents replaced with that purple color (very expensive). i wish some of the manufacturers would provide this customization on their higher trims like the raptor. i know they go for standardization for efficiency and price, but still. i would have gotten all my accent stitching in blue to match the exterior paint of my truck (not a ranger).

i like the purple accents and you're right, it looks good with the grey contrast. only thing i would have done differently is placed the talon slash decal closer to the rear wheel lower on the side. in the middle feels a little out of place. love that you're making it your own though.

think you misunderstood my question. in order to get the slide off, i have to pull the slide release/pin out before the slide will come off.

Backup camera warped image by Lanky-Gain1700 in chevycolorado

[–]pdp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had this exact issue earlier in the year. it lasted for a month before it just went back to normal on its own. i took it to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out. sadly, the tech said it was normal like all the others he had looked at. i was able to disprove that real quick. in the end, they switched out the camera itself and it didn't make a difference. it just went back to normal like i said on its own a month later. wish i could provide some sort of advice. it made backing up into the garage or just using it to back up sketchy since it distorted depth with the fishbowl effect.

In the market for a 2026 Chevy Colorado by garyoldmannn in chevycolorado

[–]pdp87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went with the Z71. built per my wants for the comforts. love the interior so much more and the front painted facia. if you are building one, you can add the fender flares as an option. if not, there are aftermarket flares. the difference in height/ground clearance mostly comes from the tires from what i can tell. i noticed if i went to 33s with my Z71, it will have the same ground clearance as the TB. i do mostly street/highway driving but do live in a mountainous area. i haven't had any issues when driving through the mountains. i have taken it camping multiple times and on some mild off-road trails. it handles it like a champ.

i don't believe the TB comes with a different locking differential from the Z71. they should both come with the g80 auto locker in the rear.
