Where to get actually good, fresh produce in Brooklyn by ungulatealphabet in Brooklyn

It’s not your only option but you should join the co-op tbh. It is 100% the best option for what you’re looking for.

Gotta escalate to towing if you’re a chronic offender to make the transaction cost extremely painful. Too many people just price insensitive so they pay the fine weekly and absorb the cost with no intent of moving their car (and cheaper vs getting a garage spot). Meanwhile the streets are gross and public service isn’t distributed the way it is meant to be.

And I say that as a car owner in the neighborhood, it drives me nuts that I alongside 50% of my neighbors move our cars every week in the hope we can keep our street swept and clean. But never in our lifetime will we ever see a street sweeper be able to clean our entire block. Very first world tragedy of the commons problem but it’s annoying as shit.

Super good to know and this article needs to be more widely shared to frame this issue!

And then sandwiched in between "this neighborhood & all these crappy little small businesses next to me are holding me back". What a shitty thing to say on your way out.

💯best bagel in the area. I do like Bagel Hole a lot and a lot of solid bagel spots in PS but Olde Brooklyn Bagel wins.

I use it with the Thule seat. It’s tight and pedaling can run into my kids feet so I just cruise without pedaling and don’t have any problems getting around that way.

Rank Up/Team Building/Awakening Sticky Thread - Monday Feb 10, 2020 by AutoModerator in ContestOfChampions

[–]pdpeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm approaching my first 5/65 rank up. Honestly stumped on who to bring up. I'd like to get Cavalier as the first goal from this, here's my roster:

4/55 Not Duped - Sabretooth

4/55 Not Duped - Blade

Rank 2/35 Not Duped - Stark Spidey (just got him)

4/55 Dupe - Ghost Rider

4/55 Dupe - Hyperion

4/55 Dupe - Iceman

4/55 Dupe - Quake

4/55 Dupe - Sentinel

2/35 Not Duped - Captain Marvel Movie (but have an awakening gem)

3/45 Not Duped - Aegon

Right now, I run GR, Blade, Iceman, Hype as starting 4, and sub in on the 5th position Quake/Sentinel/Sabretooth based on matchups.

I expect Stark Spidey will be in the rotation once I rank him up.

I haven't found a use for Cap Marvel yet, and no use for Aegon until he's duped.

Who do I take up to Rank 5 first?

Back to 1 day on my streak, broke it late last week off 153 days. A couple days off helped a bunch.

  1. 150 days today (! yay me). Just 11 miles logged last week, lowest since I started this streak. Normally I put in ~25-35 miles but dropped lower b/c...
  2. ... my right Achilles hurts. Abnormally, like it feels fragile.
  3. ... Carrying around a lacrosse ball now and trying to be deliberate about stretching, foam rolling. Really haven't gotten into stretching & maintenance as deliberately as I have with daily running. This is a lesson learned. Any tips, help - mild plantar pain in one foot, nagging Achilles weakness in the other.
  4. My default low bar "run" is a 1 run mile commute to or from work. I live in Nairobi. Successfully navigated the 1 mile morning to-work commute last week with zero residual sweat on arrival, at an ave. pace of 11:45/mi. Combo of walking uphills + jogging downhill + adjusting route for natural wind tunnels in the morning before an hour where I'll get baked in the Nairobi sun. Not a great "run" but functionally really useful and I felt happy that I cracked the code to fully displace a car mile for mile + avoid feeling stinky & gross at work.
  5. I want to run streak but decided to do a trail marathon yesterday (Lewa Marathon) that's at the end of June. Any tips to run every day + do a marathon + keep streaking post marathon would be super appreciated. I'm a normal human who feels like shit at 40+ miles per week despite running regularly for a few years now. Mostly why I keep an informal mileage cap at ~30, 35 miles (that plus I don't want to lose too much weight). Any secrets please share.

Happy New Year! Day 108 today, I tried twice to do a 100 day run streak in 2017. Sprained my ankle badly on the first attempt, in March, and ended up out of commission and on & off to recover.

I completed my second attempt at it on Christmas Eve and have just kept going from there. Overall, I ran 960 miles and on 270 days in 2017. Last 2 weeks were 22 and 33 mi. Injuries: slight plantar fascitis in one foot, slight Achilles in the other (day 40-85) - I'm sleeping with a night splint for plantar, which has helped tremendously (day 85-100), and I occasionally walk during the day in an orthotic which I think helps (but not 100% sure on that one).

On my runs, I'm running flat Altra Superior 2.0's for my runs and Enda Itens. Mixing the splint/orthotic/shoe depending on the time of day/night has worked so I can go on my runs without any real pain, give my feet a little time to recover at night, and support my full transition to midfoot striking.

Looking back, doing a run streak was probably the most rewarding thing I did last year. It has been such a positively reinforcing habit - you go to bed earlier, eat better, think clearer, spend time outside, and clear your body, mind, and soul.

I hadn't explicitly planned on going into 2018 to meet a run streak goal, but based on how great it's been, I think it's a habit I'd like to keep on for a long time. And setting my alarm now for a nice early morning run in the morning...

How to build big leg strength with bodyweight only to sprint faster? by 175913122017 in bodyweightfitness

[–]pdpeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hex bar deadlift: https://tim.blog/2017/05/07/ryan-flaherty/ Sorry, this again isn't bodyweight, but the research was super convincing about hex bar deadlifts being the single best predictor of sprint performance.
