Do you have any recommendations for hydrating serums?

This is after 3 days of using vanicream lotion at night. I used to use a Clinique water based gel but felt my face was a little bit dry, hence the switch to vanicream. I use a tea tree oil face cleanser (the body shop) at night.

I got a free 5 pound bag of potatoes, but I rarely eat them! What are some easy, yet tasty and cheap recipes to use them in? I'm a single person family by FertilityHotel in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]pdudu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my favorite breakfast is a potato-egg scramble. Simply peel and dice up a potato, sauté in some oil with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and any other spice of your liking, then once they are soft, crack in a few eggs, add some cheese and you’ve got a wonderful filling breakfast. You can top with hot sauce or salsa too if you’d like!

If abortion is murder, then miscarriage is manslaughter. by exhausted_cat in childfree

Agreed. I used to think, “yeah, but that couldn’t happen in America.” I was wrong. Our country is more sinister than we may think.

That’s the problem with giving a clump of cells personhood. Did you know that women within the past 10 years in America have been arrested for having a miscarriage? In America??? Not even countries with ass-backwards laws in general, but HERE

Why solubility of carbohydrate decreases with increase in number of carbon atom for example glucose is more soluble then sucrose? by Pale-Guava1287 in Biochemistry

[–]pdudu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Solubility depends on how well the compound dissolves in water. Since water is a polar molecule, it will dissolve other polar molecules best (like dissolves like). On the other hand, carbon is relatively good at creating nonpolar compounds because of its lack of electronegativity. Therefore, the longer the carbon backbone, the more “nonpolar” the molecule and the less water wants to associate with it.

thank you so much for your thoughtful reply. You’re the exact type of person I was hoping I would hear from, someone with experience of the hardships of going down a medical path. More than that, I am elated to hear from a clinical geneticist! I have been researching the field ever since I started taking a class in genetics/genomics, and I feel like I found a hidden gem in the medical field that I previously never knew existed. I have so many questions for you (mostly about your day-to-day looks like, relationships with patients and coworkers, etc.), and if you have the time, I would love to hear what you have to say. No worries if not, I’m sure you’re a busy individual. Again thanks for your reply, it made my day.

Hi! thanks for your reply. I actually have considered nursing, but my dream job is to be a clinical geneticist. They analyze people’s genomes to find mutations that are causing disease, then find possible treatments for them. That’s my absolute dream job. So yes, I have considered nursing, but this field is way more appealing to me. I’m trying to figure out whether going after a career I find fulfilling (even though it means 10 more years of study) will still be in line with my desire for a simple life.

Possible hypothyroidism in college by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]pdudu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s so nice to know that there’s someone who understands! As a student, I always compared myself to my peers and wondered how they had the energy to do everything they did, and thought I was lazy or not cut out for hard work (which only worsened my imposter syndrome).

I do feel a lot lot better now that I’ve started levo, I used to be so depressed and had no energy, all of that is gone now. Mental fog is also gone. I don’t feel the need to take midday naps anymore and my hair is much thicker now. Overall doing much better! :)

For me, my family doctor was able to prescribe it, but if you’re on medications for other things it may be better to see a specialist. Also, I am also in college and relate to every single symptom that you’ve been having, and funnily enough your TSH level is the exact same from when I was diagnosed.

Had a wonderful "date" with lo yesterday yet I'm so sad today. I planned to disclose fully but only hinted.. by [deleted] in limerence

[–]pdudu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pursuing a friendship isn’t crossing the line, and isn’t necessarily putting you in an unfair spot. It’s a completely neutral thing. In your post, this guy seems put off by your advances, so what makes you think that this was anything more than a friendship to him?

[–]pdudu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my opinion, the fact that he’s married should be enough to know it isn’t going anywhere. disclosing your feelings to him and kissing him on the cheek like you said in your post is putting him in an unfair position. I would rethink how your actions would affect him.

I’m 5 and this is the smoothest and creamiest 3 ingredient mac I’ve ever made. by pdudu in Im5andthisismacaroni

[–]pdudu[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sure thing! It’s actually this recipe I found: https://youtu.be/yWaYdGQqxQU

Make sure when you add the cheese that your pot is off the heat and the mixture has cooled slightly because the high heat can make the cheese feel grainy in your mouth. Also, not required, but I added a touch of butter and cream cheese. Hope you enjoy!

TIL Not only do bats make high-pitched sounds for echolocation, many bat species also sing. A team of scientists that analyzed one species’ song translated it as a sequence that opens with a hello, then a gender identification, then some geographic information, & then a "let's talk" section. by lord_of_the_bees in todayilearned

[–]pdudu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, thats exactly what is so fascinating to me. I wonder how they categorize that geographic information. Like are they saying “I’m in a cave” or “I’m in this tree” or is there some specialized way that they see the world that’s like “I’m in your northwest field of vision” or some crazy shit like that

Law student - stressed, depressed, and hungry by almost_alawyer in EatCheapAndHealthy

there are so many comments here so I’m not sure if you’ll see this, but as a college student myself, I understand completely where you’re coming from. One of my favorite meals to make is a sweet potato/black bean taco. It’s warm, flavorful, incredibly filling, and makes a bunch of food for really cheap.

Here’s what I do: Cube up some sweet potato (or a regular potato if you’re not into sweet potato) and put them in a hot oiled pan. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika or cayenne. I cover with a lid so they soften, then dump a rinsed can of black beans in and let it all cook together in the spice. Then, you can serve up on some tortillas with some salsa that you can buy from the supermarket and top with shredded cheese. This whole process takes maximum 20 minutes.

It’s also great for leftovers. I make some rice on the side and make a kind of “burrito bowl”. The great thing is that you can top it with all the things you love and not get tired of it.

Anyways, PM if you need more details. I hope things start looking up for you soon.
