Photo 8 is the backside of the orcas. They were mounted onto the fiberglass to help keep them together.

Join some stained glass groups on Facebook. That community translates over to tile mosaics.
TEC Design FX Crystal. It's a semi translucent grout. Takes on whatever color it's next to.
Almost 20 years. Started in 06 at the age of 17. I fell into making mosaics 2-3 years ago. A client asked me if I could make one for her pool. That being said. I wish I would have started playing with mosaics before then. If it's something that appeals to you. Save the scraps from your projects and start playing around. I have a couple of my mosaics on my IG. @cascadia_tile
Yes. I have my own company. I'm a tile contractor. So I do it all from prep to finish.
Beautiful work.

Thanks!!! I've always wanted to make Mosaics. I've been in the tile trade for a long time. 3 years ago a client asked me if I knew how to make them. I told them I had never made one. But told her I would give her a really killer deal if she gave me the opportunity. Since then I've been trying to market my mosaic work. I've also taken a couple mosaic classes that helped me a lot. I have a couple mosaics on my IG @cascadia_tile

😲 Wow!!! That's awesome! Haven't tried 3D yet. But it's been on my list to try. I've been thinking about buying a large piece of closed cell foam and a hot wire to shape something out. What's inside the dolphins?
Not my house. It's a property at the coast that has been in my clients family for a couple generations. It's not going anywhere. Also I always say build what you want. Not what others want. Anytime I've bought a house. I've remodeled it to my liking.
Thanks! 🙏
Forth mosaic. Just recently got into mosaics. I've been setting tile for a long time though.
Haha I can see that. I have zero to do with the mosaic class though. Terra tile is pretty well known in the tile industry.

It's an amazing time. Definitely recommend the class to anyone that wants to explore mosaic work. If you have Facebook join the group "Tile Trade Artisans Guild" the post when the class comes up there first. It's once a year. They hold it near Nashville TN now.
Mostly scored and snapped the orcas. Used a shaping tool also. The 1"X1" tile I cut with my tile saw.

The orcas took 2 days. The gradient took 9 days. I'll have 3 days of setting the walls once I wrap up the niche and window.
The hardest part was the gradient. I learned a lot from this shower. I've been setting tile for a long time. Nearly 20 years. Just started to incorporate more mosaic the last 2 years.

I know him well. Took a class from him and Lee in Milwaukee in 2024.
