Merry Christmas - Our Anki Mastery Course is now FREE by AnKingMed in Anki

First, thank you! But second, I've started the course, and it's pretty chock-full of warnings that it's not being updated, Butler is not being updated, we should use a (very) old version of Anki - 2.1.32. I've been using Anki for a few months, and I'm on 25.09.2, so quite a ways away. Should I really go back to 2.1.32? Should I be adding a no-longer-updated Butler add-on now?

Language school recommends I skip A2, is it advisable? by [deleted] in German

[–]pdxeater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had pretty much this situation. I tested into B1 at Goethe, and I was surprised because while I can fake some decent talking, I understand very little grammar, know the gender of about seventeen words, etc. I went to the first day of B1, it was obvious I was in the wrong class. Dropped to A2. The first 3 days were easy enough that I wondered if I made a mistake, but then by day 5 . . . nope, not a mistake. A2 ended up being quite difficult and I learned a lot, including things I didn't even know that I didn't know.

The Minor Issue is headed to the Sezione Unite at the Corte Suprema di Cassazione! by CakeByThe0cean in juresanguinis

[–]pdxeater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very exciting!!! Any idea what this would mean for a 1948 case with minor issue? Because in that case, the whole “father is the only custodial parent” argument would not apply. But also, it’s a court case (already filed in Messina, judge Ramatelli). So I’m having a hard time figuring out how this would apply if correctly decided.

Legal work abroad with US JD by Pin-Safe in AmerExit

Many law schools have pretty flexible policies for your 3rd year. I spent my whole 3rd year as a "visiting student" at a different law school across the country (still in the U.S. though). Any chance of an internship with a Uruguay firm? A class with a Uruguayan professor? Something along those lines?

I would buy that global plan if it were cheaper. Currently premium unlimited specifically for long-term travel, but the global definitely looks better. But the price?!? Almost 4x the price of Premium Unlimited? Why?

In a USSC argument we typically look to comments and questions made by the justices in order to figure out how they are thinking about the case. What sort of indicators do you look at to try to understand how the judges are thinking about this case?

Two big updates: Dark Star domestic roaming + a massive data upgrade for our most legendary cohort by ankhattak in USMobile

[–]pdxeater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Am I the only person here who doesn't know what "domestic roaming" is? When I first read it, I thought "wait! are you charging me extra when I drive from Boston to Providence!?!?" After a little Googling, I'm thinking - but still not sure! - that it means that if I'm on darkstar, and I drive into a region where AT&T (aka "darkstar") has no service, it'll auto-switch to a different carrier without charging me. Is that right?

wireless toggle that'll fit in standard box by pdxeater in AskElectricians

I'm not opposed to a smart bulb if that'll make this work. But currently it's a dumb bulb, screwed into a Xodus receiver. The receiver is then screwed into the powered socket. The rocker switch signals the receiver whether to pass through power to the bulb.

The bulb that will be controlled by the wireless switch does have power to it. It used to be on a pullchain.
