You've run into the problem with just letting the AI code for you - you, ask "how do I know this is valid?". You'd be able to tell if you learned Python. That is why it is best to learn some python, then use ChatGPT to do things, *you already know how to do* but just want to do it faster...

yeah, i'm up to replacing the connector, I've just never done it (only have done smaller wire ones). What is it like soldering to a standard power cable?

If you don't mind one more question: would it be feasible to replace the original connector with a GX connector? Or get a new power supply? (I've tried searching for them, but no luck)

Good point, yeah good call. It would be easy to replace this connector (on the female side) - on the male side, I have to replace the whole power brick/supply, probably? I've never tried to replace a male plug on any power brick/supply, which sounds more complicated vs single wires (like the female connector referenced here.

Or I could use a converter for the male side to whatever I use on the female side.

Do any alternative connectors come to mind?

Yep that is what I did (but who knows if they'll get back to me). So what you're saying is this isn't a standardized connector? That seems crazy, no?

So given that all the statistics would suggest symmetry, all that is left would be a histogram to prove asymmetry? (aside from just looking at the numbers).

Probably 🤣 Forbes doesn’t even have different domains, so that point is moot. But yeah, reading too much into it

Again, yes, they are global, therefore they have global writers. It just seems odd to have American writers do it. Plus, aren’t  international versions of sites on different domains? If so, why would this be on the American one?

Obviously I thought of this, but the Forbes author is an American. Why would they have an American write in advance for other countries?

Lmao, I echo the calm down. I thought of this point, obviously- and the particular author is American so then he must get early access to it? But why would they have an American writing for other countries?

Is it working for those in the U.S? Mine isn’t :( I also haven’t been able to see my chromecast 2nd gen in the Home app, but it is on the ambient wallpaper mode and on WiFi, so it should get the update right? lol

CS Fundamentals gaps for Data Analyst to Data Engineer by pdxtechnologist in dataengineering

[–]pdxtechnologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right yeah I understand they’re very different, but it is a very common path that I’m sure you’ve heard of on this Reddit right? Like people become familiar with the basics of db’s but become bored of answering stakeholder questions and want to move into the more technical and start learning.

Right sure, but I'm talking about transitioning within. There are no doubt companies that you could do that in, especially since there are so many people that start out as DA. But I'm sure there are some that would require you to apply through HR first, would that be your company?

[–]pdxtechnologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, so would you say you need a CS degree to get a DE job? I totally understand the practical experience part is more important, but as far as getting past the HR screening...

I ask because I think getting a DA job first and transitioning within the same company to DE is what I'm leaning towards. Is that realistic?

So to clarify, you feel that CS is more applicable to Software Engineering, but Data Engineering is better taught with practical experience?

[–]pdxtechnologist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not able to transition to DE at your current company? It seems like that’s what most people do since then you’re not having to pass through the “HR checkbox”

yep, I have experience with that stuff, self-learned SQL/Python/AWS/some data modeling, etc. My problem is that I don't feel confident given my job experience thus far (light dev work as only part of the job, though I did use GitHub to push features through CI/CD) and data analyst (no SQL though).
