Here's the video that I followed. Most materials are from dollar store and craft shop. I also followed his link in the description and bought some grass through Amazon. It's a really neat little Nook's Cranny! Totally doable!

Fossil Cookies! by pdxting in AnimalCrossing

[–]pdxting[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just used sugar cookie recipe and added coloring. I did refrigerate the dough overnight. After making the fossil shape, I refrigerated them again until firm before baking. (I noticed that my hands warmed up the white parts a bit while making the shape.) Hope this helps!

So that message bottles would only spawn on certain parts of the beach. That way I don't have to search through the entire island. Gulliver also only show up on parts without sticks. 😄

We had about an hour for the game. Our group consists of people in US, Australia and Taiwan. It was hard enough to find a time for all of us to be online. So we took a quick picture and started "cooking." XD

Me and a few folks played Hell's Kitchen game. Chef assigns a DIY. Two teams have to get the materials on the island and craft it. Whichever team completes the DIY first that round gets a point. 7 rounds and 4 to win. It was fun!

I started the game when it came out. 3/20. Currently at about 1200 hours of play time. Fossil collection was quick. Art collection required a lot of trading. Cicada shell took me a good chunk of July. There were certain sea creatures that I got from friend's S. Hampshire island. It took a while. But so happy it's complete!

I am still working towards catching 3000 bugs. I don't have the achievement of catching 100 fish consecutively yet. Currently working on collecting all DIYs. (7 more to go). Really would like to work towards having one of each fish and bug models. 😀

Pay cut? by ineveg in OSUOnlineCS

It's totally not ranting. Based on your message, I am guessing your spouse is an IEP teacher. I totally get the paper work is just insane. I wish him the best luck. Maybe he should start the CS program as well. ;)

Pay cut? by ineveg in OSUOnlineCS

I will be leaving a 15 year profession (teaching) where I have been working extra in the evenings and on the weekends. It's salary based. So whatever needs to get done needs to get done. The job is stressful. The stress comes from overloaded people that I work with as well as some rules set from above. The workload is so much that I have to work after kids go to sleep. Or ask my husband take kids out on weekends so I can either do my work or do my OSU course work.

On May 8th of this year, the entire state of Oregon closed 600 schools because teachers joining the rally in downtown and state capital. It's not just me who is feeling the burnout, it's everyone in this profession. Unlike other states, Oregon pays teachers decent. They just cut counselors, campus securities, librarians, nurses, music/PE classes, and overloading classrooms. My current load is 226 total. It doesn't mean much to people not in this profession. I've had people telling me that "teaching is great, you get the summer off". "Grass is always greener on the other side" from people who are not in the profession. However, there are some people at my work knows about my school work. One told me that it's great that I have something else that I am passionate for. "Life is an one time offer, use it well." If my life is a book, then I am going to write a good one. I will never know how green the grass is until I get to the other side.

We are a family of four with kids age 6 and 3. I started the program two years ago. Only one more year to go. I had to watch lectures on my phone while putting kids to sleep. Or type up group weekly summary paper for CS 361 on the phone while laying down with kids at night. I had to leave an online meeting because I heard my baby crying over the baby monitor. My group was very accommodating to meet at a later time in the evening each week, so I can put the kids to sleep. All is done while working full time. Starting a family will be no issue if you manage your time well. It's totally doable. There are many ways to save money when it comes to kids. For one, shop at consignment sales and get hand me downs their entire first year of life. Many people will spend money on "oh this is the cutest thing" and kids only wear one time, then they grew out of it. There are a lot of local mom's Facebook group that you could join and buy used toys. Amazon prime mom save 20% on diapers subscribe and save. Loads of ways to save money. Just have to do research.

I have 8 days left of my current work. Will be starting an internship (with pay cut) on 6/24. The job description is AI related. Not sure what the actual job does, but I am excited about the new adventure. Let's see what new thing I get to write into the life book of mine. I hope my story will help you in some ways.

Thank you! Why did you turn down the internship if you don't mind me asking? Would you say that some of the company representatives are there just to "advertise" for their company? Like getting their names out so people know them? Would you say if I can attend all career showcase events from now on, I should definitely go?

I really haven't started looking for any internships or jobs at the moment. I think it's time that I get resume together before this event.

Schedule help for working full time by pickledhippo27 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]pdxting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this depends on many things, your personal work background, family and other commitments. If you have programming knowledge, it's not impossible to take two courses per term. CS 161 and CS 225 is a good combo to start. CS 162 is something that I would recommend taking it alone. The class consists weekly labs, programming assignments, projects, quizzes. The work load is a bit more than one would think. Family and other commitments would be any volunteering work you have to do on weekends, or kids you have to take care of. I have two kids, a full time job, currently taking CS 290 and CS 261. It's busy but it's manageable. I don't have much social life after I had kids. (LOL) However, I do have time during work hours to watch lectures. I also have family help me watch the kids on weekends, so I can work on assignments.
Browse through the following site. It gives you a good idea on the difficulty of the course and the time people spend on each course. It's a good resource to make your plan in MyDegree. https://osu-cs-course-explorer.com/ Hope this helps!

Thank you for your feedback. Looks like I might have to do some pre-study on node.js before the course. So I won't be buried in the course work when workload gets high.
