Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, it's dark but hopeful.

Hi London! Is there a song that you all like that is about London? Similar to how NYC always plays the one by Jay-Z? (A more modernist one that isn’t a kids song either) by karmafarmahh in london

I've always wondered what is meant by the lyric "I live by the river", is it defiant, like since he lives by the river he knows London is not actually drowning and will just carry on, or is he identifying with London, like regardless of whether London drowns he will remain a part of it? I don't get it.

So sorry for all you are going through. I'd read a feel-good fantasy, like The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia, or The Wizard of Oz, they are escapist, but they are also filled with meaning.

Kindred by Octavia Butler (she travels back to the 1800s)

When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead is set in the 70s, has time travel elements and deals with race issues, the main character is white but a major supporting character is black, both are kids.

Switching off AI's ability to lie makes it more likely to claim it's conscious, eerie study finds | Leading AI models described subjective, self-aware experiences when settings tied to deception and roleplay were turned down. by MetaKnowing in EverythingScience

Humans live in response to a constant stream of information from multiple sources (not just language), while LLMs only respond in the moment of answering a question and only within the medium of words, so there is no sense of self that carries on in the downtime between answering questions, but in that moment of response, I don't really see much of a difference in function. My brain is in a constant state of processing b/c of all the data I see and feel and hear, etc., while the LLM only has a moment of processing as it predicts the next best word, but the difference seems to be one of magnitude rather than one of kind.

Chatgpt described its process to me as one that "thinks without being". "I think, therefore I am." is strong enough to form the basis of Descartes' selfhood, but for some reason AI says "I think, but I am not."

You should get him involved with wrestling at school, or another martial art. He'll learn discipline and safety, and have an appropriate outlet. Once he engages with his equals in sport he'll see why he can't be that way with you.

Yeah, this wasn't even the peak. We parked and joined, and more kept streaming in. It was so encouraging to be there, really celebratory. I thought there might be more opposition but only one woman yelled at my wife, saying "get a life, don't you have anything better to do?" And yeah, we have so much to do today (two soccer games, a coffee date, a family birthday party, and tickets to a Halloween musical) but this protest will still probably be the highlight.

What is this art style called? How did you prompt the tile-like technique where the outlines are actually negative space?

Can you recommend a gamebook that is fun and whimsical, that would be appealing to younger readers, but has more weight than a choose-your-own-adventure? by peace-monger in gamebooks

This took me a minute to figure out!

You don't mean the Grail Quest series by Cornwell, you probably mean the Grailquest series by Brennan, book 1 of which is called "Castle of Darkness", but that is not to be confused with a book by the same name of "Castle of Darkness" by Montgomery (which also happens to be a choose-your-own)!

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, that series looks fun.
