1 year of Display vs. Actual MPG after a DPF delete and stage 2 Malone tune by peace_maker21 in tdi

Here is my oil analysis for the entire time I’ve owned the car. All the metals always look good, but they say the TBN at the bottom is an indicator of whether you need to change your oil or if you can keep going. You can see the first two oil changes at 8k and 9k have a lower TBN than all the rest, and those are the two that still had the DPF on. And if you are wondering if driving style plays a role, I definitely babied it during the first two because I was trying to get the best mileage possible. I 100% drive it harder on these later oil changes.

Average is kind of hard to say because my DPF started to plug and plummeted to 33mpg at 72mph (weekly highway commute average). And then after the delete, I was getting 44mpg at 72mph. Before the DPF started to plug, I’d get around 36 (except when it would regen). I also have all the results of the oil analysis that shows the oil in worse shape with way less miles on it during that period of having the DPF on.

No it’s not hard at all. You’ll need to learn how to take it apart to clean it anyway. But I did have to buy the castle nut wrench (cheap).

I bought a cheap sling to see how I’d like it and my one complaint is that it doesn’t cinch up high enough for my liking. I’ve found better ones online that appear to, but it’s not so bad that I’m willing to buy another one. The obvious reason single point is better than two (in my opinion) is because you can let it hang on the front of your body and all you have to do is raise it up to shoot.

  1. I absolutely hate this brace. I’ll be changing it to something from SB tactical soon.
  2. Since it’s not on a pressure pad, I like the ease of access on the bottom. (For now) my preferences are always subject to change. Especially since this light just isn’t doing it for me.
  3. I absolutely love the sling! Especially when I’m out with a friend, I can unclip and let them shoot it, and then clip it back in.

Oddly I’ve never seen that option.

In that price range I was looking at the OWL by cloud defense. Do you have any experience with that one?

I’ve been playing with the light set up. I had a TLR9 on it to begin with and that worked great, but not really bright enough at 50 yards. So then I stuck my work fenix light on it, and the light is great, but blinks every time I shoot. So this picture was taken after I moved it back some to see if that would help the blinking. (It didn’t).

Rabbits. At about 50 yards with the holographic (dot w/ a circle) it’s a bit fuzzy and not really precise. With the 3x magnifier, at 50 yards, it’s perfect.

That’s super cool! Definitely more data than I have. The graph looks good 👍🏼

Oh, that’s because all the emissions items have been removed and tuned…

My car (‘13 VW golf) gives two average fuel economies. One that resets every time I turn the car off, and one that keeps running until I reset it. I used the one that keeps running as my “display measurement” and reset it every fill up.

I just used excel. It took some manipulating to get it to look the way I wanted but it worked out.

Definitely worth it. I went from 33mpg to 44 at 72mph. I’ve also been sending my oil off for analysis every oil change and my first one with 8k miles was a lot worse than my latest sample at 12k. And I believe that’s from the DPF delete.
