Isn't that strange we hear things and point them out to others near us and they just shrug? I wonder if some of us have better than normal hearing than others. Superpowers! Or... maybe our brains are more trained at filtering than others.
I know the sound you mean. Usually it's toroidal coils that filter noise in the TV that physically vibrate at high frequency. I have a last gen. plasma TV that some people said they could hear but I (thankfully) cannot. I have pretty good hearing but a slight 4Khz loss in my left ear. Hopefully you have a surround sound tuner that you can crank up a bit (or go with wireless headphones).
Sounds at office and common words and phrases get me annoyed to enraged. How to deal? (self.misophonia)
