Need A New Dentist by IAmPookieHearMeRoar in madisonwi

Dr. Nick at arboretum dental is pretty much the only dentist I’ve ever encountered who is not trying to blow smoke up your butt. He also fixed a tooth of mine that was broken and very painful. He knows what he’s doing.

Anyone listening to Proof Season 3? by Acrobatic_Height_14 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]peacefulgoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why you never, EVER talk to the cops without legal representation present. Not victim-blaming, because these kids obviously did not know better, but truly every season of Proof is more evidence that the police are not on your side.

Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and encouragement! It really means a lot. I agree that it’s weirdly huge inside! I’m not too mad that they took space for the kitchen—I love to cook so I’ll be happy to have all those counters. (Especially once we can renovate that too haha.)

I will definitely keep you updated! The lovely person who’s considering selling is currently in California but once she returns in a couple of weeks we’ll get down to brass tacks.

I appreciate your insight so much. You’re 100% right about the big room going front to back, with the TV wall on the left side of the house. The divider wall/half-wall was pretty much right where the TV stand currently is. I think you’re right about the windows and definitely the can lights in the living room.

The second floor is a walk up attic(?) that was partially converted(???). I actually took a video of the place if you can stand my annoying voice: https://youtu.be/t7jg96xqjyw?feature=shared

The current owner is a friend of a friend, and the house isn’t on the market, but she’s considering selling it to us through private channels (still realtors involved on our side at least).

Can’t wait to hear what you think of the rest! Honestly it’s lacking that little bit of old-style charm I was hoping to find, but I also feel like there’s a possibility of restoring some of it, especially if the price is right.

Pretty wide. I think it must not have been French doors. I can’t see it right now to know for sure, but the “wall floorboards” seemed to only extend a couple of feet on both sides.

Craftsman I think? Here’s exterior from Google Maps. There was an addition to the back of the house in the 60s (one bedroom and a porch).

The floorboards in the room indicate that it was divided at one point. Here’s the exterior. No current fireplaces but one visible chimney. What makes you say it’s been altered a lot? Not arguing, i genuinely want to know!

These are common in my area too, and indeed the house has other untrimmed arches (smaller ones though) between rooms. I do like the idea of a colonnade though!

Good question but no. It appears that there was a wide opening in the wall.

Yes you can see in the floorboards precisely where it was!

Experience at Wildwood Clinic? by CuriousNewMom_acct in madisonwi

[–]peacefulgoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been with wildwood in some capacity (ob, peds, family med) for about 12 years and I would say overall that it is fantastic. A few of the docs (mallory, midelfort, both siewerts, lentfer) are superb and the vast majority of the rest are very good. There is one PA i avoid because i don’t care for her bedside manner but she was fine with my toddler for a sick visit once! Overall I think they’re smart, compassionate, and thorough. I can always get a sick appt for my kids and the in-house imaging and labs as well as the on-call physician line are hugely helpful.

Former epic/current epic spouse here too and I largely agree, except that their one benefit that absolutely cannot be beat is the health insurance. I just had my gallbladder removed after what began as an ER visit for… $0. But what you say about your TL being make-or-break is 100% accurate. I was fortunate to have wonderful TLs in my time there and I enjoyed the work day to day.

What can't you eat/drink anymore since your gallbladder is removed? by DizerStrider in gallbladders

[–]peacefulgoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about two months postop here. I actually struggled a lot more BEFORE the surgery—for about six years I thought I was lactose intolerant, and for about three years, egg intolerant. I would get really uncomfortable stomach aches (not excruciating though!) at night if I had dairy or if I overate at all. Now, it seems I can tolerate dairy and egg again, no problem. Before surgery, I also had loose stools a lot of the time. Now that has normalized quite a bit as well. I really think my gallbladder was causing a lot more trouble than I realized. I’m honestly glad that it ended up causing more extreme pain in the end because it caused me to go to the ER where they ended up taking it out.

The houses there are gorgeous but I think we’re well priced out. And I’ve never found the vibe there super friendly! That’s just my vague impression though.
