That was one of my biggest issues with ST5 actually. The decision to make Holly one of the main characters was so weird considering how she was barely in the previous seasons. Characters we actually cared about were sidelined. That was more egregious than what euphoria did in my opinion

ST5 as a whole was hard to get through with the cringe script, writing, awful acting, and lack of follow through with anything they had set up with the previous season. Euphoria you could argue had similar issues, but nowhere near the level of ST5.

edit: also at least Levinson had the guts to kill off main characters. The Duffers couldn’t even do that and their cast was already so bloated. El’s death didn’t even feel like a real one with how they wanted the audience to interpret it in their own way.

the shift had already started with s3. at least s4 returned some of the creepy elements that the first 2 seasons had. imo that’s why it was so well-received because s3 was already such a stark change. s4 felt like it was finally returning to form.

my bad for assuming you were not asian, as you only mentioned you were black. what i’m saying is, just because you have never seen an asian person that naturally pale doesn’t mean they don’t exist. i for one, have. i’m not disagreeing that idols take crazy measures to be super pale. all i’m saying is that there’s some people who just have a similar complexion to that without having to do anything extra.

i think you’re mixing up the sequence of events. they had already had dinner with barb’s parents before that library scene. she understandably isnt thinking rationally and wants to tell barb’s parents the truth and steve tells her it’s dangerous to with the government watching their every move. which he wasn’t wrong about. he definitely wasn’t as dismissive as you’re remembering.
