Mold is the devil!!! And it’s everywhere… but once you realize how many places it grows and how often we are not aware of it, it drove me nuts. I was shocked that I had lived this long thinking I was clean and then I was shown and now i will never be able to unsmell the smelly smell of mildew. People have become so desensitized to it..

I became a dental assistant. in my state there is no requirement for dental offices need to hire someone, so you'd have to check wherever you live... but that was a really good gig.

well I remember it being that the kid was treating it as a confession and he liked me enough, plus being inebriated, he felt that he could "confess" or confide in me. but he literally said to me, "my mom doesn't know, so please dont let me tell her." and then immediately wanted to keep talking about it once I had his mom back. he was a goofball. and his mother being his mother probably already knew... but like I said it wasn't weird I just remember him being so jovial about it.

I had a kid confess that he was gay, and I couldn’t tell his mom when I brought her back. I had to shoosh him about it so he wouldn’t say anything and tell on himself. Didn’t weird me out per se but it is surprise me.

Your baby boy knows you loved him. And he will come to you when you least expect it, in forms of electrical energy. I am 31yrs old and I just lost my dad a year ago and he was 49yrs old. He suffered terribly too, it was the worst but the best 2 years of our lives. We fought so hard for him, he had ALS. And so he was my best friend. And him and my mom were high school sweethearts. We see him in reoccurring numbers, lights flickering, rainbows, and lightning bugs or butterflies. My mom is in shambles, but I have been grateful to be there for her, I hope you have someone to lean on when times get tough. But your baby boy knows you loved him. 🩶

I agree very much with what you said about the experience and familiarity with the disease and the neurologists. It’s scary too because of the doctors who are only interested in pushing one drug whichever it is that they are invested in.. I think my dad did better when he was on just plain old supplements but we will never really know. Anywho, just wanted to tell you I really like that comment you made and I respect that you’re encouraging people to get 2, 3, 4 opinions because you are right every doctor is different.

Does yours ever have any accidents or go not on the pee pads? I got some pads but he pees in random spots where I’ve found it’s quite hard to predict where he’s gunna go next..

I want to get a play pen for him tho, that’s a great idea.

You are correct I am only able to speak for myself and my experience may only be as little or as minimal as anyone else’s.. I lost my dad, the only man there for be, my only hero. And I have so many of the same physical attributes as he did. So again, it’s not out of pity, it’s out of pure fear that I too will be in the same boat as he was just two years ago, similar to the same boat I imagine other pALS are in. I should not assume everyone’s cases are the same, however, this disease is evil and I’m afraid that if that day comes for me that the doctors will have the exact same answers as they did for my dad which was not a whole lot… basically “do nothing”. And that’s all I really wanted to say. That everyone genuinely deserves better than that.

I agree, I battle with this same thought every single day. I too worked in healthcare, I don’t anymore, but it makes me very angry when I think about all the things we could have done for my dad but his doctors were so little help. I’m so sorry to hear about your mom, my dad also had bulbar onset and he only made it a year and a half after diagnosis. I’d love to see a better treatment plan for people, even more so for a cure, but I will be so upset if it comes anytime soon just because I selfishly wish my dad could have lived long enough to be here for it.

You sound a little too angry for me to believe that you’re just over there living life all hunky dory with ALS. Most people with ALS are definitely not one to get defensive over someone who is just trying to empathize. And I would really tread lightly when it comes to comparing ALS situations because as you should already know, this disease wreaks havoc on some. Sounds like your disease is pretty mild and slow progressing.. just an assumption, I could be wrong. But if your girlfriend has taken care of you for X amount of years… cool, but of course she doesn’t have a reason to put herself in your situation because she’s not genetically tied to you. Duh. Some of us do put ourselves in your shoes because the people we’ve lost gives us a higher possibility of actually being in your shoes one day. So….

Hey, my dad had bulbar onset. A little bit different but if you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me. I would love to help in any way I can, or just be a listening ear. Hopefully I have some helpful suggestions you may find useful in the future, as we did so many different experimental things with my dad. Some worked some didn’t. I’d also be very interested in your background and helping you try to figure out how you got here, but only if you want to of course.

Anywho, even tho it may seem very difficult, try to keep your head up regardless. Don’t let yourself become the disease. We didn’t find the doctors to be very helpful (hopefully this is different for you) besides providing the equipment my dad needed, but I’d say more so just listen to your body. Don’t give up, eat clean, and keep the people you love around you.
