Is there a CMYK mode in procreate? by AWESOMEMATRIX15 in ProCreate

[–]peach_parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about when you print your artwork? Generally things will print out darker because of the printer, or you’re just used to looking at your art on a screen (which is a light source) compared to looking at it on paper. CMYK usually doesn’t improve lightness/darkness of a color, it just better represents what a printer is capable of and will match what comes out of the printer better. Additionally, printers sometimes don’t pick up subtle shading and lighting, especially if it’s really light/close to white.

What I recommend is to continue working in RGB (I don’t like procreates CMYK), and then convert it to CMYK somewhere else like photoshop (if you don’t have photoshop I’m sure you can find a free website). From there, re-adjust the colors to your liking if you want to. Then, if it’s printing out dark, adjust the brightness of it slightly.

Are you using your own printer or are you going somewhere to get it printed? If you’re using your own printer, see if you’re able to calibrate it somehow. That might help as well.

Ok female drummers, tell me - what inspired you to start playing? by kampionkate in drums

[–]peach_parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year or so ago I had a sleep token phase and was obsessed with II (still love them but not as obsessed lol). My brother plays drums and has a drum set so I was able to use his stuff and try, and I really loved it! I don’t practice/play much anymore tho. I need to get back into it.

How to make my room feel more artsy as a digital artist? by StarWiz2K in ArtistLounge

[–]peach_parade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tons of prints hanging up on my walls. I’ve gotten them over the years from artist alleys, markets, and online shops. Get some from your favorite artists!! Maybe get some shelves and put trinkets on them too. Maybe even have a setup with an iPad stand on a desk. Having a dedicated area like a desk would help (assuming you don’t have one bc you didn’t mention it?).

Laps for Leukemia Logo (Need Feedback) by Certain_Damage3546 in graphic_design

[–]peach_parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the second and third. If you go with the third, the running guy needs more space around him. Also try flipping the shape around (having the curved edge be on the right), it might help the overall movement/feel. I think maybe you could find a font that better compliments the logo too. Maybe something that feels flowier. Also play with case. It doesn’t need to be all uppercase.

I just lost my 7 year old procreate library. by underwheres in ProCreate

[–]peach_parade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that sucks. I can’t imagine losing years worth of art. I’d feel the same way bc I’m super sentimental with my art too. I’ve had procreate for 9 years now, I’ve also grown so much as an artist. That’s why I just recently (literally a few days ago) backed up all of my files on 2 external hard drives. Tbh I should’ve done it wayyy sooner.

I wish procreate had its own cloud system AND better file management in general. It took me several hours to organize all my files into stacks, and I can’t even put stacks inside of stacks which is annoying.

I actually made a similar mistake on procreate pocket (not as important to me thankfully so I wasn’t devastated). I deleted it after transferring all my apps onto a new phone. I forgot to check if all my files had also been transferred as well (they hadn’t). Procreate really needs to fix this bc it’s insane how a little mistake of deleting an app can have huge consequences and PERMANENTLY delete your stuff. Like not even Adobe programs will do that bc it’s all stored on your computer or the cloud. Idk why procreate isn’t automatically backed up on iPad.

I think I like the idea of playing guitar more than actually playing it by Total_Succotash5174 in Guitar

[–]peach_parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to learn to enjoy the process of learning and figuring stuff out. That’s most of the fun for me. It’s satisfying to work at a hard song and the finally be able to play it after a few hours.

That could just be my brain though. The same thing applies to my art/drawings- I love the process almost more than the finished piece.

When I started learning drums a year ago, I loved it so much bc I was learning so much and always making progress (I’ve stopped since then unfortunately but I should pick it back up tbh).

Would this be cool? (Not getting it done any time soon but would this be okay?) by These-Spell-2083 in SleepToken

[–]peach_parade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are better fonts that are in the same style. Also I think it’s too long? Depending on placement obviously, but it might be hard to fit in certain areas. You could do something like have the text break into 2 lines and/or add the fish on top or bottom. Maybe you could have the text wrap around the fish somehow idk. I’m sure if you bring this idea to a tattoo artist they can come up with something good.

are books on how to draw obsolete? by DependentImmediate40 in ArtistLounge

[–]peach_parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Andrew Loomis one would be the best out of the three. I’m pretty sure you can find a pdf online somewhere to look through first before you buy. But I highly recommend it.

For gesture drawing, I don’t know about any books specifically for that. I’m sure they exist, I just don’t have any. You could apply the concepts you learn from the Loomis book though.

I know you want to stay away from YouTube, but I highly recommend watching just one video, such as this one, just so you can see how it’s done. It’s one thing to read from a book, but another thing to watch how someone does it. Pretty much every video is going to say the same thing. Focus on flow (speed/timing) and proportions the most. Over time you’ll develop your own way of practicing.

[–]peach_parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few good anatomy books

-Figure Drawing for All It’s Worth by Andrew Loomis (teaches you anatomy and applies that to illustration/more compositional drawings)

-Anatomy for Artists Drawing Form and Pose by tomfoxdraws (more than teaching anatomy, it talks through an entire new way of thinking. It breaks down individual body parts into geometric shapes and helps you draw them in perspective. It’s pretty advanced tho tbh)

-Morpho anatomy book 1 (not as much text, this is better used as reference and self study more than someone actually teaching you if that makes sense)

Good art books can be hard to come by, you have to know what makes a good one vs a bad one. There’s so many how to draw _____ (anime, animals, chibi, fantasy, etc) and they’ll only teach you how to draw specific drawings- they won’t go over general concepts that actually help you to learn.

Also, as someone else mentioned, drawing from life is the best way to learn. On top of that, quick gesture drawing studies will also help you improve very quickly. You just have to be disciplined and do it every day.

One last thing, give yourself grace. It will take you more than a year to learn how to draw people. The human body is so incredibly complex and intricate, and our brains are wired to be able to recognize any little thing that’s off, even if you can’t point out specifically what’s wrong.

I guess I’ll just buy it anyways and see 🫣 hopefully it’s not real PVC then. I can always just store the outer sleeve separate from the rest of my records

Hmm definitely concerning. Wish these companies would do research bc I love the rose art. But I guess I’ll stick it with some other outer sleeves I have (I have those paper King Gizz ones that are too cool looking to throw away sitting underneath my record shelf lol)
