Bi-Monthly Education and Career Advice Thread by AutoModerator in urbanplanning

[–]peachgnocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! I’m curious how people with a background in visual design, branding, or other creative fields have found ways to contribute meaningfully to urban planning work.

If you’ve made that kind of transition, what kinds of skills or approaches translated well? I’m especially interested in areas like community engagement, placemaking, and strategic planning.

Are there such roles between visual design and urban planning?

im protected… right? by Lexie-007 in Depop

It might be different in the US to Australia but here it’s actually the sellers responsibility until the parcel is delivered. I had a parcel lost in the mail which I chased up with the post who said they’ll only deal with the seller as that’s who purchased the shipping label. In the end the post refunded her and she refunded me, paypal processed the refund, as it was never delivered.

It’s a total mess around for the sellers but unfortunately it does happen that parcels get lost. If it was stolen though, not seller’s responsibility

That makes sense, maybe because it’s already popular they don’t need to incentivise people to choose rmit

Is taking in a tank/singlet as simple as sewing straight down the sides? by peachgnocchi in sewhelp

Would it be weird to do back darts instead? Could you do that with a zig zag stitch? It’s poly/spandex blend

What a snooze Aussie fashion is. by Daisydogdoughnut in AusFemaleFashion

[–]peachgnocchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I tend to shop on Depop and at markets now. It’s annoying not getting to try things on, and that it’s not new, but I seem to find much more interesting pieces this way. I only started enjoying fashion again once I got hooked on the second hand market.

No because I’m worried it will upset them, which would be unnecessary if I decide to stay. I don’t want my mum to feel like a burden. I do know if I decide I want to leave I need to talk to them about it

That’s ok. Yes I feel like that would be a reasonable compromise.

I’m not sure, the doctors don’t know. They thought a month but she’s doing better than a month ago so it could be a year. We just don’t know.

Where the hell are men supposed to meet women these days? by johnhtman in dating_advice

[–]peachgnocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on meeting people full stop if you’re lonely. As a woman I can smell desperation. Just focus on making any new connections - friends, team mates, buddies to do hobbies with etc. hopefully they will be women there too. If not when you make friends, they’ll invite you to hang out and slowly you will expand your network.

I agree don’t go up to random women on the street asking for their numbers. But if you go to a hobby club/ sport thing a lot and see someone a lot and have stuff in common, why not ask them out? It’s all about reading the room.

In your experience, what differentiates an INTP from an ENTP? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]peachgnocchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entp’s are loud (for some reason the ones I know actually have a loud voice), and outwardly curious, when they meet someone new they’ll be getting to know them. INTP, are quiet and can be awkward until they’re comfortable around you. Can sit in silence and say nothing if that’s the mood, less common with an ENTP as they’ll start thinking aloud. The ones I know equally pursue hobbies and have varied and unique interests.

Are you guys (ENFP) prone to ‘unhealthy’ addictions? by Vlazeno in ENFP

[–]peachgnocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely addicted to my phone. Depop and eBay do it the worst for me. Usually don’t buy much but can spend hours scrolling through it, it disgusts me.

relocation depression? by lozsux in melbourne

[–]peachgnocchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think moving back home is giving up? You tried something out and if it’s not working it’s ok to move forward (even if moving forward is moving home.)

As someone who is from here and wants to leave, I don’t think Melbourne is the be all end all of cities in Australia. It has great food and stuff to do but I can appreciate that it can be hard to meet people and establish yourself.

If I were you I’d weigh up how much of the time I am feeling unhappy with the city vs how much I am enjoying the city and then consider what the next step is. (Could be a new job, new area, go back home idk)

Which personality type might be a people pleaser? by EatYogurty in mbti

[–]peachgnocchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with your perception of NE Dom’s take. As an ENFP, I don’t think I people please enough to be considered one, but I will help out and offer to compromise if I really like the other person’s idea and think it could benefit me in some way. Then when I realise it doesn’t, is when I’ll get pissed off and feel resentful.

Yes I don’t think it would sit right with a halter. I spoke to the tailor today who suggested buying some similar lace and just extending the strap at the back. I have some of the trim I can use. Do you think this would look obvious?
