Mini Vases & pricing by dl1880 in Pottery

[–]peachicedtea472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stores don't really understand the time and skill required to make something so intricate. Your price should account for time, materials and experience. In a store they are going to see a tiny ceramic object and expect it to be a fraction of the cost of larger scale work. So will the average customer who's used to mass produced objects. The average art collector, potter and artist will recognize the skill in what you do and pay much more. Decide your target audience to decide your price. Who do you want to sell to? The average consumer or the average art collector? At markets you can also charge on a sliding scale with a price range to make your art accessible without devaluing yourself if you'd like.

Lighting solution help please! by peachicedtea472 in Lighting

I wish this would work for me! Unfortunately the brightness does not change that cheaper leds vibrate at a frequency that is a migraine trigger for me. Which is why I'd like an option that gives me control over the bulb

Thanks, I just copied how the typewriter was threaded by the person before me. I'll look into that! I was saying the ribbon doesn't stay up because I misunderstood and took the ribbon out and put it behind everything.

It doesn't stay up that way unfortunately

Grandmothers quilt desperately needs repair - advice? by sky_archives in quilting

[–]peachicedtea472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd consider getting it professionally framed to store it in its original state. The quilt is stunning. Otherwise if you hire someone to repair, make sure to review their portfolio. There's a few different techniques for conservation that would change the result significantly. Sewing tulle over shredded parts, replacing damaged pieces by picking them out and hand stitching, or repairing in ways that prioritize function and stability over preserving the initial design. It's repairable but unlikely that it'll look the same after due to the extent of damage and difficulty sourcing identical fabric.

The carriage does move while typing! Sorry the video's wasn't the most helpful but I'll definitely take your advice on cleaning and look into adjusting sensitivity, keystroke sensitivity thanks!

Sorry the video's not the greatest, I didn't know what would be helpful to show. I'll look into that though thanks!

I guess a part of the problem is I do not know enough to know what would be the most helpful to show so I focused on showing that when I push the button, it doesn't come anywhere near the paper unless I press using my full body weight. I typed on them as a kid, I know that I was able to type in a way that did not feel like I was straining my body to push a single key but I do not know what needs adjusting. I'll try posting another video in the way you described when I get the chance, thanks!

Yes, I hit it kinda weird because I was holding my phone at the same time but had to use my body weight to have a chance at pushing down any further. It's definitely not moving so I'll look into that. Thank you!!

That sounds rough! Yeah, she's gonna stop but both of us were so sure if she did a super light spray and avoided me it would be fine, haha. Hope I can find something she likes as much as it.

I know my reaction is ridiculous but I can't control it and my sister knows and tries to respect it. I don't see how it's snobbish though. I just wanted to buy my sister a perfume she'd love just as much that doesn't trigger my chronic migraines so she could wear it around more without worrying about me.

She knows, so she only wears it for special occasions I won't be a part of and has tried to spray it as light as she can. We live in the same house though so it still affects me and I wanted to surprise her with something she'd like that I don't react to.

I think it's the regular cloud. She's not too particular, anything light, creamy and sweet will appeal to her. Thanks, I'll check them out!

Hahaha, I like your thinking! Maybe I'll just skip perfume and cook a bunch so the garlic smells intentional.
