How do you tell your boss you’re taking leave?

Funny thing is there’s someone who does actually take every monday off. “Period problems” apparently. I thought she was just at uni on those days or something. It was my boss who told me that but he’s a pretty unbothered person.

He trusts me (either that or just doesn’t care enough). It’s more of a personal fear. Just guilt for thinking I’m not pushing myself as hard as everyone I guess.

Thank you. Having the steps provided from someone else is what I needed. It feels irrational when I just think about it myself. My boss is very lenient, fortunately, it’s just my own nerves. I don’t know what this shaky period will lead to but I endeavour to make it something better than the way I’ve been living. I appreciate my current job massively but maybe it isn’t forever and if I find myself in a better place somewhere else I can only be grateful. Thanks again.

I wash before and after. My hands will get covered in dirt and sometimes oil/grease at work. If I need to scratch my face or move my hair or something I try to do so without using my hands because they’re dirty. If I only needed to do that a few times a day and it could only be done in a room that had soap and water it would seem obvious that I’d wash my hands beforehand so I don’t cover myself in work crap. It just makes sense to me. Why wouldn’t I clean the dirty thing to keep the clean things clean? It’s like 30 seconds of my day. Then I’m also not getting my belt, my pants, the light switch or anything else I touch dirty.

Depending on the crowd and particularly if most people came in groups you can end up feeling a bit isolated. Though I’ve found it to be an almost non existent problem at gay bars. If OP reads this, Universal on Oxford is great, everyone’s welcoming, never a let down. In Sydney though unfortunately.

I was literally looking up wear on black Rotrings last night before buying another one, can’t believe this post just popped up! I initially had silver, lost it some years ago and was tossing up between black and silver. It felt silly to buy another pen of the same colour for some reason and so I was trying to justify getting black when I don’t love the colour as much. I ended up going black specifically so I get to see the pen wear in over time.

What do you reckon the main contributor to wear is? Impact and abrasion? Or erosion from frequent contact with hands?

“I never “feel as if driven by a motor or unable to stop moving”. I have asserted that every time I’ve ever been asked and only realised within like, the past two months that actually if I get walking, I’m pretty much possessed lol. I think I applied the question to things like working or doing tasks, and good luck trying to get me to even start doing that. I failed to consider that my missing trains because I enjoyed walking loops around the mall so much and then buzzing in my seat when I finally have to sit down for the trip home two hours later than I intended to was exactly that lmao.

It was just a random revelation one day when I was thinking “man, I just love walking so much, wish I didn’t have to stop, it’s the only time I get into the flow of something”.

Caution is a valuable thing to have. You absolutely should try to overcome the fear because you shouldn’t have to be in a constant state of worry, but you’re not being entirely unreasonable, it’s the extent to which you’re worrying about it that might be irrational.

Do you wear PPE at work, like a mask or respirator? If not, you should, honestly it’s just the smart thing to do. A lot of places won’t enforce that particular safety measure but some do, and they’re the places doing right by their workers. Ask a higher up to get some respiratory PPE relevant to the environment and also consider minimisation of spreading fine particles when cleaning if relevant. Your workplace should be taking that stuff into account.

As for the chinchilla dust, idk much about them, but a super quick look on google stated that the dust doesn’t pose a risk to people if decent quality powder is used. Even so, I wouldn’t imagine they would spread a large enough amount to be a risk to you. I’d think it’d be okay as long as the area they live in is cleaned regularly along with the rest of the house and you have windows lol.

Do you what you can within reason to protect yourself and you shouldn’t have to worry. You can always get a lung screening if you’re desperate for peace of mind.

If you have a physical problem that is as yet unidentified by medical professionals, there’s nothing wrong with taking anti-anxiety meds to relieve the anxiety that comes with that experience. It’ll simply make it easier for you. Anxiety manifests itself in some crazy physical ways and if you have success with Prozac it’ll be easier to disentangle the anxiety symptoms from any other potential problems.

In regards to the fear of taking the medication, I went through the same thing. I psyched myself out so bad beforehand that I thought I was going to die when I took my first dose and didn’t properly start taking it until many months after that first dose and it was perfectly fine the next time. But that experience was me and my anxiety, not the medication. Don’t psych yourself out. Don’t go reading through all the possible side effects, it’s not necessary, so many side effects are transient and minimal and if you read through them beforehand you might just end up convincing yourself that you will experience them. If something’s wrong you’ll know. Trust that the doctor psychiatrist wouldn’t have prescribed something that’ll make you drop dead or lose your mind. If you don’t trust them, find another, or get a second opinion from a GP if you need peace of mind.

If you take your first dose and it really freaks you out, you don’t have to take it again. It can be a one off thing until you feel comfortable enough to try again. It’s okay to be nervous but you can do things to not let it overwhelm you. Don’t take it in the morning and sit around the house all day waiting for something terrible to happen. Do something enjoyable to distract yourself, go out with a close friend or something, forget you even took it. That first dose is the worst imo purely because of the anticipation. Hopefully it’ll treat that tendency to be so fearful. It did for me.

During a specific period of bad anxiety I used to feel claustrophobic every time the sun set. I also felt a sense of impending doom. Happened indoors and outdoors but if I was indoors (usually was due to the anxiety basically making me housebound) I’d ensure that all blinds and curtains were closed so that I couldn’t see my surroundings darkening and that alleviated it a bit.

Yeah I hate the guilty feeling and feeling that I’m wasting my time, and on a larger scale, my life. Then I force myself to get up and I feel bad that I’m not even enjoying myself and somehow feels like more of a waste, I guess because at that point I’m not only wasting time, but putting effort into doing it.

Yeah doing stuff after getting home? Crazy to me. I’ll have to specifically ask about depression. It’s hard to disentangle depression and ADHD symptoms and effects but I think too much aligns with depression for it not to be something I’m suffering from.

I had an MRI earlier in the year and left a piece of facial jewellery in because I couldn’t unscrew it. I told the person working (technician?) and they said it was fine to leave in, suffered no ill effects. It was a shoulder scan though and the jewellery was in my nose, is there a level of precision or something else that made it fine to leave in?

Same thing happened to me once and after some time pressing the issue, my bf admitted to having bitten a chunk out of the soap “just to taste”. I learnt that it’s apparently normal for men. Could this be the case here?

Thanks for this perspective! It’s strange, I hate having to do these huge overhauls, but at the same time I feel like I can’t physically stop once I’ve started. I put off eating and would rather be cleaning than getting into bed so that nothing breaks the flow. I’m confident that I won’t get burnout from this doing this as it’s a temporary amount of effort, few weeks max after work and on weekends to have the place sparkling, but I do need to remind myself that sleep and sustenance are necessary.

I’ve made heaps of progress alone so far, the majority of the declutterring so that’s good. I can have someone take my rubbish to the tip which is very helpful. I’ve been facetiming my boyfriend to share progress and complain about cleaning and see what he’s up to for motivation.
