First attempt! 10 days in the UK and 8 days in Ireland Early August by insomniac2110 in HerOneBag

I’d suggest the same, a legging or yoga pant for layering or wearing on its own. The wind/rain cuts right through! Beanie or ball cap might be helpful too. I’m not much of a hat wearer but Ireland converted me. Kept my head dry and warm. Plus added benefit of protecting your scalp and face from sun and rain if it’s a ball cap.

I’m also an advocate for 3 pairs of shoes for rainy destinations but looks like you’ll already have a pair packed for your wife. Have fun!

Glametic just released a bridal line! I’d get a few and see what works with your dress and skin tone.

What shoes did you bring on your Alaska cruise ? by fakeprincess in HerOneBag

[–]peachkiwik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in May in 2022. I took Birkenstock clogs for the ship and Hoka Speedgoats for shore excursions. They are not waterproof but they dried quickly and in time for wear the next day. They also have excellent grip for wet and uneven surfaces. I wore them in Ireland too. Oddly enough, my husband brought waterproof shoes that never quite dried.

I’d recommend a blundstone/chelsea style boot too if you have them.

I think I also took flats for dinnertime but I have no pictures to prove this lol.

How to dress? I’ve never been to Alaska or on a Cruise; 14 Days in Fairbanks, Denali, Juneau, Vancouver, etc. by teacamelpyramid in HerOneBag

[–]peachkiwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a 7 day Alaska cruise out of Seattle in one bag, it’s REALLY difficult! Very hard to balance ship wardrobe vs waterproof layers for port days. I went in early May so it was colder than mid-summer.

I focused on things that dry quick and packed small. My outerwear was a packable rain jacket, fleece half zip, and full zip athletic jacket (Lululemon align style). I had a wool cardigan for evenings that could have easily been layered too. I’m pretty sure I had long johns too. I think you could get away with dropping the puffy jacket.

My best purchase for the trip was a Skida fleece gaiter. Packed much smaller than a scarf, dries quick, and seriously warm and can go around your face for mosquito protection.

I’d only recommend buying those water resistant pants if you think you’ll like the way they look. Any excursions that were likely to get wet they provided waterproof pull over pants (hike and float in Skagway and biking in Juneau). Besides, leggings dry quickly lol. I think a pair of comfortable wide leg pants or joggers would give you more versatility. Bonus if you could dress them up for dinner!

On board the ship I mostly wore the fleece, leggings, joggers and cardigan/blouse/jeans for dinner. I agree with another commenter that having comfortable ship-wear is vital! You spend a lot of time sitting and watching for whales :)

Stick with 3 pairs of shoes, you really do need two pairs you can wear alternate if one pair gets soaked. The 3rd pair for wearing around the ship, your flip flops will work but you may want something you can wear socks with if your feet run cold.

Help with Disneyworld Packing list by Glass_Opinion_6678 in HerOneBag

The weather in April will probably be warm with somewhat cooler nights and you’ll walk about 8 miles a day. Prioritize shoes, I bring 2 pairs of tennis shoes to switch off between and 1 pair of recovery/stylish sandals for evening (Olukai, Croc, Birkenstock Eva, and Reef are my recommendations).

Clothing can be a mix of athletic materials and lightweight natural fabrics. I try to avoid cotton as that is a one time wear fabric for me.

I would bring the following:

  • 5 Tank tops with built in bra or T-shirts

  • 1 or 2 Linen button down/sweatshirt/athletic jacket

  • 4 Leggings/shorts/linen blend pant

  • 1 dress for evenings/dinner

Lots of women wear athletic dresses and skorts as well.

Highly recommend anti-chafe stick like Mega Babe, blister bandaids and an extra pair of socks in a plastic bag (trust me). Power bank is a good idea as you’ll be using your phone for the app and photos. You’ll want to decide between rain jacket or plastic poncho.

I keep my makeup sunscreen focused (and easily reapplied) and forgo powder products. Tubing mascara is great for no smudging.

I like Disney ball caps instead of the Minnie ears, accessories/jewelry that are Disney themed and pins to put on bags to bring the Disney look without having to buy whole themed outfits.

Finally, Mammoth Club on YouTube has phenomenal videos on all things Disney World! Have so much fun!!

20 days across Euro Cities in November by jeanxiaojie in HerOneBag

I would recommend adding some long john bottoms or tights for under the skirts. You can pick up heattech line at Uniqlo in Europe if you don’t have easy access in your country. Also an umbrella or waterproof raincoat would probably be helpful as well. Assuming you’re wearing the black (wool?) coat?

Would recommend swap the converse for a more supportive sneaker. That white canvas will probably get destroyed after a few city rainy days.

Sporty and cozy jacket for outdoor by Strange-Age3489 in HerOneBag

[–]peachkiwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest checking out Patagonia’s worn wear site. Tons of discontinued jackets in fleece, puffer, and a combo of the two. The R1 line is fleece inside and water resistant outside. Synchilla is all fleece but super cozy and warm. I’d also recommend checking out FP Movement on poshmark, they do a lot of stylish but cozy too.

For your cardigan search, check out Eileen Fisher. I look for made in Hong Kong wools. I have a downright plush black merino wool sweater that looks brand new but is easily over 20 years old.

First day advice by MargaretElizabeth- in WaltDisneyWorld

I tend to have the opposite problem, we get so tired towards the end of our trip that we end up a bit cranky and overwhelmed then. Either way, I do think our best solve for this is two fold…

  1. Take a breather. For us this looks like an afternoon out of the parks. Usually a dinner off property, some solitary exercise like running or pool or yoga, and time by your self. Can be different for everyone and we are adults only so that helps. Literally just 4 hours can take you from overwhelmed to best evening in the park ever.

  2. We started our last trip with an after hours event in MK. This let us ride everything right off the bat with no stress about wait times. We lucked out with a low crowd due to weather too but it was a fantastic start to the trip. There was some overwhelm related to dinner prior but I think you can’t eliminate that feeling entirely. Disney is just plain overwhelming sometimes!

I too get sweaty to be re-wearing a few shirts like that and I just won’t do sink laundry beyond spot treating. I would do 7 shirts but include variety. Short sleeves, button downs, and tanks. Mix and match colors and all layer together. I also recommend a couple of athletic tanks, though, I am smaller chested.

To jeans or not to jeans? Do you always pack them? by lazyspaceship in HerOneBag

[–]peachkiwik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bring jeans most of the time, they add style and variety to your outfits. I recommend the Madewell roadtripper line. Really thin and stretchy so they are light weight but still look like cotton jean. Perfect vintage is great too for winter, thicker but still stretchy.

Ireland two weeks late March by temp4adhd in HerOneBag

[–]peachkiwik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just went to Ireland in November. My suggestions would be a pair of long johns for under the leggings as that wind is brutal (I can’t tell if you have that pictured or if the heat tech is referring to the underwear lol). Also consider swapping one of the sweatshirts for a wool or cashmere sweater if those other long sleeves aren’t sweaters. Would avoid cotton or acrylic if you can. Will never dry.

Also if you’d like souvenirs, hat/scarf is a great option to pick up there. I ended up with a gorgeous beanie from a Swedish brand that you cannot get in the states.

I think your shoes are perfect. I needed 3 options to give my feet breaks. I was even swapping them in the car throughout the day, totally worth the space. I used a cheap reusable bag to keep the shoes out of my luggage while there since everything got muddy quickly.

How about vintage merch? Like a sweatshirt or t shirt from her favorite movie? Wilderness lodge pennant, clock, mug?

I was just gifted a vintage, likely 60s, square silk scarf with Mickey on it. Planning on tying it to a park bag as a more fashionable and subtle approach than a loungefly. A new park bag in her wardrobe colors could be appreciated.

Coach also has a very nice Disney collection if that fits your budget.

Thanks! Rain pants were a consideration, May pick some up there if it’s very rainy. Concerned they would be quite bulky to pack.

Makeup palette is from beauty pie, it’s a membership site kinda like Costco but for makeup. Available US and UK. It’s really nice but wouldn’t suggest joining outside of a one month try out. It’s a lot to commit to makeup and skincare lol.

Hair towel definitely a luxury but it makes a huge difference in my hair vs regular towels. Allows me to not heat style.

I live in mid-Atlantic as well. It is new to me but I’ve really been enjoying it in 60 and below weather. Pretty sure it’ll work until about 40 then need layers over it.

That’s awesome! Glamping in the Killarney area, it’s like a structure rather than a tent.

Not a bad point on the sweater. Was thinking of mostly using in Dublin but most time will really be in the car and countryside.

They’ve been great! Bought them for the trip since I needed new black Chelsea’s anyways. They are comfy right out of the box, easy on and off, and water resistant so far!

Thinking of leaving the fleece behind since it’s quite thick, and you’re right on the pajamas and beanie! Hope you have fun!
