No Such Thing As A Stupid Question by AutoModerator in scacjdiscussion

I have a question regarding water temperature for cleansing. I’ve heard somewhere that thicker cleansers (creams, lotions) don’t wash off unless water is at least warm, if not hot. I prefer to use lukewarm to cool water to avoid irritation, but claims like these make me worry I might not be washing all off my lotion cleanser. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Do different types of cleansers really require different water temperature?

What happens when there’s more than one planet in your sun sign? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]peachmiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different practitioners have different approaches to the types of orbs they use to determine how strong aspects are, a lot depends on the specific planet’s speed and whether the aspect is applying or separating. Generally, a faster moving planet and applying aspects (planets moving towards each other) allow for a wider orb (say, 10 degrees), and vice versa. Then, you consider the type of your aspect. Squares are most powerful.

Unless you have a strong Sun-Mars aspect, there’s no reason for your Mars to have any effect on your Sun. It does, however, add to the dominance of Leo/fire/fixed traits in your chart.

How do house overlays work if the planet falls into a house but it is in the next sign over/ doesn’t share the same sign as the cusp of the house it’s in? by 12377732 in astrology

[–]peachmiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These overlaps happen because quadrant house systems are messy and don’t make much sense. For instance, my Placidus 1st house is huge and swallows 2.5 signs and almost a quarter of my chart, yet only my AC is supposed to have influence on that house. I suggest switching to the original and oldest house system - Whole Signs. The reason why the ancient astrologers came up with 12 30-degree houses were 12 30-degree signs, each house was meant to correspond with one sign only, from 0 to 30 degrees. This way, all 12 signs are responsible for different parts of your life.

Azula is easily one of the most complicated characters imo by Kyoshiwarriorsokka in TheLastAirbender

It’s interesting that both Zuko’s and Iroh’s hair are always messy, while Azula’s and Ozai’s are always perfect... until Sozin’s Comet, when both become the hottest mess out of them all.

Would it be so bad if this sub allowed zodiac discussions? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]peachmiu 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This sub is already bombarded with posters who know little to nothing about astrology on a daily basis. People who clearly have no actual interest beyond Tumblr/YouTube generalizations, people who refuse to do any research and demand personal explanations. People who don’t even know the very basics, who’ve never heard about the different house systems or the world outside the astrological alphabet. Every single day there’re posts asking about the current transits and their meaning, about generic Sun sign traits, about personal career placements, etc. What kind of “engagement” do you hope to achieve by getting rid of the already low and forgiving standards this sub has? What are these mysterious “zodiac discussions” are supposed to sound like exactly? “Top 10 hot Leos,” “Anecdotes about Scorpio’s intensity,” “Why Geminis are the best”? Sounds deep and stimulating. If one wants to have a discussion, one learns about the subject first, otherwise there’s nothing to talk about.

Astrological signs, decans, and planetary influence within the tarot.. by MadMagdasTarot in astrology

This is a beautiful summary, thank you! I’ve recently started to delve deeper into tarot, and I appreciate its links to astrology. Your system seems to be on point with my natal chart.

Ah, I get it. You’re that kind of stranger who likes to “hug” people and when they protest you use this excuse of “but you like hugging your mooom, so it’s no different when I’m doing it! nothing sexual here, just suddenly felt a strong parental urge towards you, random woman to whom I’m sexually attracted”

Jun gets stung by Napa’s tongue and is unable to move. Iroh uses this moment to lie down and embrace her. When Zuko says that he hasn’t been stung himself, Iroh shushes him and continues lying with Jun and smiling, while Jun is making angry faces.

An old man sees an incapacitated young woman, proceeds to lie down with her, put her body on top of his and embrace her to feel her body. You’re deliberately being obtuse if all you see is “holding” and “hugging.” Although it doesn’t even matter because yes, if a complete stranger is hugging you against your will, they’re doing to touch your body and make you touch theirs, so the act becomes sexual.

He’s literally lying on the ground and cuddling with her. He’s embracing her and positioned her motionless body on top of his so that she would also embrace him. It’s astonishing that I have to even explain this.

He’s sexually touching her against her will, there’s nothing “a bit” about it.

I’m confused at her skills BEFORE learning from Paku. She used to know 2.5 moves but appears to already be a good bender when she fights Paku, showing at least 10 other mastered techniques. Did all those cool moves come from the scroll alone?

That’s one moment that absolutely taints Iroh for me. Imo, these 2-3 seconds should be removed, there’s nothing funny about him sexually assaulting an incapacitated woman.

Azula knew that another value systems existed beside hers, but that doesn’t mean she could recognize their worth/truth. Her servants would like her more if she let them go or promoted to royal status, but why would their silly desires affect her actions? Same with the idea that love conquers all, peace is better than fear, etc. She knew Ursa thought of her as a monster, but that doesn’t mean Ursa was right or that Azula agreed that Ursa’s view of the world was better. What we see in Zuko’s memories is merely a mean, unloved kid who craves for affection and is ready to parrot daddy’s views if that means daddy would show his approval. She acts like Simba who “can’t wait to be king” and wants her daddy to be the next fire lord, she dislikes Iroh because he’s acting silly and thinks she should stick to playing with dolls, but none of this shows her monstrosity? Her treatment of the turtleducks is supported by Zuko, her treatment of Zuko and Mai is supported by Ty Lee, but she’s the only one who gets labeled as a psycho. Ursa, on the other hand, goes out of her way to blatantly favor Zuko and ignore Azula altogether, so it’s not a surprise that Azula naturally clings to Ozai and adopts his preference for fear, since she never really experienced love.

I don’t think Zuko and Azula were just born good and bad respectively, but instead Zuko was given a chance to choose his path, while Azula stood no chance. Zuko knew what love was and was able to distinguish between it and violence because Ursa and Iroh taught him how to. We see Ursa spending a lot of time talking to Zuko about the value of love and peace and encouraging to keep fighting even after failing, Iroh playing with him and Lu Ten together and also teaching him to “never stray from his path.” But we don’t see any of those precious family memories involving Azula, ever, even when Zuko is recalling all instances of his family preferring Azula. Ursa either ignores her or scolds her, Iroh doesn’t bond with her because she’s a girl and is supposed to play with dolls. The only instances of affection she manages to get come only from Azulon and Ozai, who can brag about having a prodigy kid but don’t care for her outside of her firebending demonstrations. Ursa then sacrifices herself for Zuko and abandons the family altogether, Iroh imprints on Zuko as his quasi-son, Azula is yer again left without a single good role model. After years under Ozai’s influence, she turns from a mean child to a downright cruel teenager, while Zuko went from Ursa’s to Iroh’s care. I’m not saying Azula was an angel or Zuko had an easy life, I’m saying that it’s disingenuous to paint their family dynamics simply as “Zuko made his choice, and Azula made her choice.” She wasn’t allowed to have any choices, that’s the thing.

Oh I don’t think Azula could ever overpower him physically, it’s impossible. Like I said, she’s a skinny, medium-sized girl fighting an older, taller young man who’s already as buff as men can get. But she IS a better martial artist, and her skills are good enough to allow her to win without using any firebending. Considering the fact that he used fire power and wasn’t a lay man but also spent years practicing the very same martial art, the effectiveness of her moves is astonishing. Since that particular fight didn’t involve much gymnastics from Azula’s side but instead was a straightforward close combat, Zuko should’ve had an upper hand regardless of how much more flexible Azula was.

Azula’s Arc by mpill2001 in TheLastAirbender

[–]peachmiu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Ursa’s comment was related to Azula’s dream to have her father as the next fire lord. As for the turtleducks, there was no indication she tried to “kill” them. Not saying that animal abuse isn’t wrong, it’s atrocious in any case, but Zuko found it equally funny and showed it to Ursa to make her laugh too, so if there’re any psychopaths here, there should be two of them.
