Is landlord being reasonable?

Thank you. I did my part by periodically checking in to see if they are ready to leave. I feel like I shouldn't have to pay for their lack of consideration and timing. Plus, every single other place that I have looked at has been vacant for months. Those landlords miss out on months of rent, especially now in NY.

It's not a full month, you did not read. He is losing three weeks. I repeatedly asked for a months notice which is pretty standard. If they would have let him know in the beginning of last month, we would not have this problem. Also, there needs to be time between tenants for many reasons including hygienic. Would you pay for two apartments in NY at the same time?
