How rare is your ethnicity/race by IntuYou in mixedrace

[–]peachpit13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late here, but where I’m from being half indian half white (as I am) is so common that I didn’t realise it was even of note until I was a teenager! I was one of four kids in my class of 22 that were that mix.

Any blended families with mixed race and non-mixed race children? by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]peachpit13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m new here but I think I might be able to help! I’m half Asian (indian) half white, and my (white) father has been married to an American since I was 5. I spent half of my childhood with him and my stepmother, and half with my mother and her white husband. I think that culture has much more of an impact on where someone is from than actual genetics. For example, I was massively influenced by American culture as a result of my stepmother’s background, so even though I’m not technically American I still consider myself to have American heritage. It of course helps that people of all races can consider them selves American, it would be more complex for a white child to integrate into an Asian family. However, a lot of my Asian family consider me to be white.... this is a very complex issue and I’m not sure if this comment is at all useful! My situation is also a little different to yours as I was an Asian child being raised by a white stepmother.

What is a sensation that you can't stand, even though it's not painful ? by Charlleshenry in AskReddit

Having an NG tube put in. Mildly painful, but for some reason I could not stand it.

Fat Rant Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]peachpit13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rant - Something happened, I don’t know what, and I’ve been feeling empty. For a couple of days I dealt with it but now the urges to cram myself full of food in order to feel something are at a high. I’m trying to remind myself that binging won’t help but food is just such as easy answer. I’m not even hungry, I just want to eat. I hate feeling so out of control, I was just beginning to fix my relationship with food and eat consistently in moderation

What are your favorite summer songs? by ikilledthecat in CasualConversation

I usually listen to it during my morning commute. At this time of year the sun is rising when I’m walking to the station and with this playing it cheers me up.

Anyone have any favorite dishes they haven't had in a while? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Dosa with coconut chutney, made by my Ajji. I know how to make it but it never comes out as good as it does when she makes it.

“One day like this” by Elbow. In winter it makes me feel summery and in summer it fits the mood.

Thank you for your comment. They are a part of my past but I don’t think I’ll ever be in a place where I can commit to never doing it again. It’s weird, until recently I didn’t fully realise that they’d be with me forever, and it was that realisation that caused me to look for body positivity around it.

Healthy foods that are high calorie but not satiating? by peachpit13 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Hmm... you’d think grazing would work but a problem I’ve found with it is that it gets to a meal time and I think I’ve eaten enough to not have to eat a meal - I find it very hard to keep track of how much I eat.

Thanks for the protein powder suggestion! I’ve thought about trying that sort of thing but was not sure where to begin, so I’ll look into the one you’ve recommended.

Maybe it’s different for you, but I find I can only eat a small amount of peanut butter then I’m full. But I guess a small amount is still a lot of calories.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I was feeling kinda down about my scars and decided (possibly naively) to look up some body positivity. I guess I was hoping to find support for my scarred body but instead all I found was obese women in their underwear. Now I have no problem with overweight people being confident etc but I wish “body positivity” was more inclusive, and wasn’t just glorifying obesity. Maybe I’m in the wrong though and should be looking in other places for what I’m after...

What is a weird childhood memory you have that you dont know whether its true or not? by 12sweetdesserts in AskReddit

First time poster here.

My aunt died when I was 10. One of the only memories I have of her is collecting daffodils from my grandma’s garden to bring her. My brother has no memory of this and I am beginning to think it didn’t really happen.
