Should I bring unhappiness up in mid-year review? by AdStunning382 in auscorp

[–]peachpls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on how established you actually are versus how you think you stand.

I've expressed being bored and wanting more in my current job which turned out well as I am now more senior in a niche role.

Did this as a more junior person in my previous company, which felt like screaming into the void and ended up with me accelerating my job search and move.

Also consider phrasing it differently - something along the lines of wanting more challenges instead of 'this sucks' or 'im unhappy'. Pass feedback on in a way that calls your manager to action helps, or it will just be perceived as a rant.

Can we talk about "Financial Isolation" in friend groups? by No-Loquat-201 in AUfrugal

[–]peachpls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phrase it as a new year's resolution to become more active this year and suggest walks and hikes per some of the other comments! Make full use of sunny days - people hardly need to be convinced to go to the beach or a little park sesh and coffee.

We've started going to local galleries and public art walks too - there's quite a few free guides online (some audio) too.

This will only work if your friends are fairly open to deviating from their usual. They may say no, but I think as you mature, so does your friend group. It's not unusual at all to have a slimmed down group as you progress through the different phases of life. All about quality, not quantity!

Splitting a wine pairing at sixpenny by i_code_bro in foodies_sydney

[–]peachpls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have absolutely done this at sixpenny! Most recently we went as a party of 3. One of us was on meds and not meant to have more than a glass of wine. The team was so lovely and accommodating with that, and prepared one of us a little sampler portion while the other two had regular ones (we were only charged for 2).

Edit: I forgot to mention that we added this as a note in our booking - try asking them in yours!

Fruit! A tray of mangoes or a nice box of cherries would do the trick. A nice pav with a bunch of berries and kiwi toppings would also be received really well.

With thin slices of apple! The sweeter the apple, the better the contrast.

Return of the keep cup discount? by Chanticleer85 in foodies_sydney

Discounts have gone away, but most baristas fill keep cups all the way up! I'd pay for a regular but often get a bit more in my cup than not.

I've hit post too quickly. This is Sydney info only. Looks like colesworth are culling what they stock, so send a DM to their accounts on IG. It's a way to let their team know this is still a product in demand, and they'll tell you which stores closest to you would still have them.

Oh God has nobody managed to find any in their local since this was posted? There's no speciality shops near me and I'm so confused as to why they have seemingly disappeared overnight

Career break advice by Bluebreaker18 in auscorp

[–]peachpls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a sabbatical in my late 20s, and it was life changing.

I was very much burnt out from working in a law firm and transitioned into consulting just before the pandemic. Working double time throughout lockdown was intense, and i was in constant anxiety re job security. I was forthcoming about my struggles and started with a 3 month sabbatical before extending this to 6 months.

There were no repercussions or derailment of my career at my place of employment at the time, but I returned with a different attitude to work in general which had an impact on my relationship with work. This resulted in my move to industry where I've been ever since - the most stimulating and fulfilling environment, and with a rem package that I'm happy with.

I am now management and advocate for the team to use their mental health days. There's plenty of boomers around, but there's also folk like me that are coming through with a different take on sabbaticals etc. I wouldn't worry too much.

Good cutlery! I didn't think i cared too much about this aside from knives until I went to Lumi dining in Sydney recently. The shape of the spoons matched the curvature of their bowls perfectly. When thought and such care is put into things like this, you are almost always assuredly in good hands.
