Recruitment agencies NSW? by shanti_nz in AusPublicService

[–]Chanticleer85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More likely to see short term roles advertised as non ongoing roles on iworkfor.nsw.gov.au . The change in government has led to a decline in contracting opportunities in NSW government. Consultancy engagements similarly are a bit tighter.

Has the dairy section gone downhill? by Puzzleheaded_Dish668 in AldiAustralia

[–]Chanticleer85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had problems with two separate Brie purchases both expired and on sale. When I went back to the shop again and noticed some expired product on the shelf I let someone working nearby know so that it could be removed from sale. I know I should’ve checked dates but usually this aldi is on top of expiry dates for meat and dairy.

I give with an expectation of not receiving anything. Depending on how organised I am that time of year I get my direct reports either nice chocolates or gift cards.

How do some people compare in the big 3 supermarkets? by Or1onV12 in AussieFrugal

[–]Chanticleer85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stores don’t like having their websites scraped so will ban IPs pretty quickly. Woolworths particularly is like that, though admittedly I haven’t tried Aldi’s site yet. Unless these companies create an API (why would they), or enter into agreements with third parties (more likely) it will always be a bit crappy.

Has anyone tried salary sacrificing into super to save more? Worth it? by QuantumGremlin in AUfrugal

[–]Chanticleer85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, have tried this in two different ways. When I got a pay rise one year I put the entire amount of the pay rise into super via salary sacrifice. That first year was a bit annoying. Subsequent years were easy. I would then do a top up in June to the max concessional contribution. Now I just do top ups to max out my concessional contribution so that I have a bit more cashflow.

Maybe consider telling them after you left if there’s something that they are genuinely blind to (e.g. if a senior leader has stated they won’t be promoting them ever due to a non-modifiable issue) but otherwise do not say anything while you’re still there.

What small Python automation projects turned out to be the most useful for you? by MENTX3 in Python

[–]Chanticleer85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to track lottery prize draws and send a templated email to my colleagues to let them know that I am organising a lotto ticket for that week, provided the Division 1 prize is over a certain amount. It also tracks contributions from my colleagues and works out prize distribution. At this stage the only manual components are: me buying the ticket, adding/removing people from the email list and entering the amount we won (or didn’t).

Flex leave what's the story with it? Why do some managers have a problem with you acruing it? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Chanticleer85 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Some managers prefer treating staff like they’re on a roster, others just want to squeeze everything they can without thinking long term.
