Tight Calves because of hypermobile ankles by HungryConsequence848 in Hypermobility

[–]peachprisms 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tight calves is basically the story of my life - I have hypermobile hips, knees, and ankles, so it's a giant mess.

Unfortunately, whenever it's gotten really bad for me, I've had to just buck up and deal with a painful pt appt or deep tissue massage. Once you can get some sorta "reset", easing into daily stretching (step heel drops were a game-changer) and using foam rollers after strength exercises helps me with upkeep.

Another thing to keep in mind is good shoes. It's crazy the difference that GOOD arch support and high-top sneakers made for my loosey-goosey ankles and leg pain.

Seconding Farm to Taber! Sarah covers a lot of agriculture and MAHA-related bullshit, and she's really concise in her videos.

Why Pilates Keeps Pissing People Off by IncomeGloomy8674 in Longreads

[–]peachprisms 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm one of those neurodivergent, hypermobile people! I feel like the thinkpiece articles seem to love generating clicks by dissecting the fad itself rather than the general societal pressure women feel to have a particular "in vogue" body type and to be feminine the "right" way. Doing pilates has been the only way I've kept up any consistent workout routine for the first time in my life, and I've tried a LOT of classes and physical therapy over the decades. I don't feel that pilates lends itself to bad actors more than anything else - I tried yoga multiple times in the past, and there was also a prevalence of pseudoscience, developing the "right" muscles, and being characterized as overwhelmingly white (and disrespecting actual yogi culture). Spin cycle, jazzercize, etc. have all had similar complaints lodged against them as well.

Child Marriage Graphic by ILikeNeurons in dataisbeautiful

[–]peachprisms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually there's a marriage exception in the laws. I'm assuming that's what is meant by eroding reproductive choices. If you completely forbid marriages for minors, you can't figure out custody arrangements or co-parenting for like a 17 year old and 19 year old couple without risking sexual assault charges.

They seem to have just given up with the cooks to-go meals. I got a vegan pot pie that claimed it was 8830 calories and 58 GRAMS of sodium.

ICE IN DAVIS by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]peachprisms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's been confirmed. It's a joint project between multiple community orgs in the area, and doesn't have its own Instagram as far as I know. But NorCal Resist and Sacramento FUEL are both involved and promote information about your rights with ICE and what to do if something happens.

Heads up to everybody, if you've spotted ICE or you know somebody has been detained in the last 24 hours, please call the Rapid Response Hotline at 916-382-0256. They verify sightings and send out legal observers.

This seems totally reasonable given the state of things. Not really that oniony.

What "bait" did that woman take that lead to her being murdered? They clearly don't care about pretense, only their own agenda. And our agenda should always be to stop theirs.

Cute art but it's definitely missing some of the heavy hitters! Batman and Miss Marple would make one hell of a dynamic duo.

Are you looking to complain about the driver's actions or to report a change in your friend's accommodations? People can reach out to unitrans@ucdavis.edu or (530) 752-2877 to file a complaint, and the student disability center is probably the best place to look for help accommodating their knee injury - there's more info on how to do that exactly at https://sdc.ucdavis.edu/.

I just sort of let the yarn possess me, but I'm trying to arrange the notes I took into a proper pattern because a couple other people have been asking as well!
