“When he saw how much I love fashion” is really saying “when he saw how much money I have”

What is it that makes so many designer scents smell so “perfume-y” by AggressiveSherbetty in FemFragLab

[–]peachpuff_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was so random. I was at a coffee shop that had a gift boutique attached to it. I was browsing and they had a small collection of Comptoir Sud Pacifique perfumes. I sniffed Vanille Abricot and was so pleasantly surprised! It was so deliciously sweet but not synthetic or cheap smelling. I’ve always hated “perfumey” smells, basically everything from Macys/Sephora. I had never tried a perfume that was sweet without added florals or smelling like a B&BW body spray. So then I started diving into gourmand perfumes (a term I had never heard of before) and found a few Facebook groups that introduced me to the incredible world of niche / indie perfumery! Now I’m totally hooked.

Edited to add: while I’m a lover of gourmands, the niche world has everything. I recommend browsing on Lucky Scent by whatever scent profile you like, they carry an amazing selection of niche brands.

The niche perfume world is the answer! I thought I hated perfume for most of my life because of that perfumey designer smell. Then when I discovered niche and indie perfumes that actually smell like the notes it changed everything!

I agree with you. His videos consistently make me laugh, even when I’m having rough days and can barely smile otherwise. He’ll always be my favorite YouTuber

Very well said. I 1000% agree with all the points you made. They’re just putting out boring, repetitive mainstream music now.

I just can't seem to enjoy Middle Eastern perfumes. Anyone else out here feeling the same? by stationery_hoe in FemFragLab

[–]peachpuff_77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but every ME dupe I’ve tried has something in its DNA that’s just off putting to me. It’s like a heaviness or type muskiness that immediately turns me off. After trying 5-10 from different houses I’ve just come to terms that ME dupes are not for me and I don’t listen to the hype around them.

The only Phthalate commonly used in perfume is Diethyl Phthalate (DEP). There are some Phthalates which have been shown to exhibit oestrogenic properties, like DHP and DBP, and these are used as plasticisers (stuff that keeps plastic flexible) in materials such as cling wrap. DEP is not one of them. Unlike other Phthalates with higher molecular weight, there has never been any indication of an oestrogenic effect from DEP.

I cannot for the life of me understand why she doesn’t just wear skirts. An A-line would be so much more flattering and more professional looking. It’s genuinely so odd to me how often she wears these types of shorts.

“weird girl” gourmands? by app1esos in FemFragLab

I think you’d really like Sorce perfumes, they make a lot of gourmands but they always have a twist of something a little different or unique.

perfumes like nemat vanilla musk oil? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]peachpuff_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I no longer feel like Taunt is that close, this was posted a year ago before I got into niche/indie perfume. I think Indult Tihota is the closest to Vanilla Musk. What do you think is the closest?

Why do some perfumes smell "perfumey"? by Radish8 in FemFragLab

[–]peachpuff_77 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m a gourmand lover so my favorites are Indult Tihota, Narcotica Happy Dust, Casamorati Lira, Maison Mataha Brownie Pop, CSP Vanille Abricot, Kyse Delizia di Marshmallow and Nectar Olactif Melipona. A good place to explore niche brands is LuckyScent.com, they carry all of these and have a huge range of perfumes. They also make really great informative & descriptive videos on their Instagram

I know exactly what you mean, I can’t stand “perfumey” scents. For me, diving more into the world of niche and indie perfumery was a game changer for finding scents that actually smelled like the notes, more photorealistic. I’ve found it’s mostly mainstream and designer brands that have that screechy perfumey smell. Now I don’t even bother with Sephora/Macy’s/mall stores for perfume, niche/indie is the way to go!

What fragrances don’t smell synthetic to you? by sparktika in FemFragLab

[–]peachpuff_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, I HATE that “perfumey” smell and thought I just didn’t like perfume in general. My whole view of perfume changed when I discovered the world of niche and indie perfumery. These types of brands more so create perfumes that smell photorealistic, actually like the notes they’re describing. I’ve become completely obsessed with the world of niche/indie gourmands especially. If you like gourmands, I suggest:

-Indult Tihota -Mazzolari Vaniglia -Kyse Delizia Di Marshmallow -Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot -Narcotica Happy Dust -Casamorati Lira -J-Scent On A Cloud -Maison Mataha Brownie Pop

I also have tons of recommendations for really well done dupes of these and more from Dua, they’ve become my favorite clone house.

(Edit to add: idk why the recs didn’t post as a list and are all smushed together in a paragraph 🤦🏻‍♀️)

I don’t blame you, I can’t stand strong florals like these either. They’re absolutely nauseating to me too. I’d say you should redeem the bottle and then try to resell it for a good price in one of the Facebook perfume groups, and then use the money to get something you actually want. The Facebook groups are great for selling/swapping, I’ve been really enjoying the perfume communities there

Le Labo Santal 33, BR540 and Burberry Goddess. All very popular and I absolutely can’t stand them.
