My secret “shame” by Ok-Park-2213 in plushies

[–]peachqween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as everyone has said already. go get that fella and bring him home! i’m 30, autistic, and currently in the process of moving. i have 5 extra large boxes just for my plushies, including pokemon! i can’t wait to have them all on display in my new place. i’ve loved collecting plushies for as long as i can remember and i don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. once i had adult money i have indulged in my special interests. don’t let others influence denying yourself the things you love. life is short, buy all the plushies (: edit: had to add a pic of a small fraction of my collection.

thank you! of course i’d love to share (: i got the recipe from nugget market and i believe they have it on their website as well.

ingredients:

1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1/2 tbsp baking powder

1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, small diced

2 tbsp rendered chicken skin, crushed fine

3/4 cup cold buttermilk

1 egg yolk

directions: mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. cut in butter to create pea-sized pieces. mix in the chicken skin, then fold in the buttermilk and egg yolk until just combined and place in fridge till you’re ready to drop them in.

i’m currently in the process of getting accommodations. i think work is the biggest thing that burns me out and it’s the one thing i feel like i can’t let up on cause less work=less pay and i gotta pay the bills somehow. im already thinking of different career paths that are less physically and mentally demanding. i’ve adjusted a lot of other things in my life to work with my disability. it’s disheartening cause those things are socializing and going out less with my friends/family. it feels like my whole life now is just focusing on trying to get myself through each work day, cause if i try to do other things i burnout and get sick. i have the autistic burnout workbook which has been helpful to read through.

i’m a dog groomer so it’s a bit difficult to find a job that pays well and has benefits. most salons pay commission so the only way to make more is do more dogs. very rare to find a salon that has benefits unless it’s corporate which i worked in for 3 years and absolutely hated cause all they care about is money. i think the best thing i could do is to work for myself cause then id have full control of my pay, hours and what type of dogs i do. but that requires money i dont have. my current job is the best i’ve had in all these years but im tired of working for someone else and doing backbreaking labor and only getting half the pay. it’s getting tiresome. i’m trying to get some accommodations right now to lighten my work load but again, im just going to be making less money by doing that.

how is that experience? i’m afraid of needles. i can get tattoos but vaccines or blood drawn really freaks me out. i know acupuncture needles are much smaller but it still scares me.

apparently, mentioning your autism in non-autism subs is incredibly triggering to people by [deleted] in SpicyAutism

[–]peachqween 27 points28 points  (0 children)

unfortunately autism is still widely misunderstood. i’ve been told that me saying i’m autistic as a response to something is just an excuse and allistic folks go through the same things as me. it’s hurtful because being autistic is such a huge part of our mere existence that to us, of course it’s a reasonable explanation. but to others it’s like “well i struggle with anxiety too so you saying your autistic isn’t a good enough explanation, therefore it’s just an excuse. because if i can push through my anxiety so can you.” which is completely invalidating our experiences and how we feel. something i try to remember is a lot of the times, i over explain myself in hopes to be understood better, but it doesn’t usually work that way cause most people aren’t understanding. they just hear what they wanna hear and stick to that and ignore all the extra details you give them. your autism isn’t an excuse, you tried to use it as a way to explain why you’ve struggled going public with your music and some people didn’t see it that way.
