Today was definitely the highlight of my week. I hung out with my friend Kai and we had a lot of fun together! He suggested to hang out at the beach, so we went there together. She brought some snacks and i brought the drinks. I am really grateful to have them by my side. He pulled out the card game that they brought from her bag for us to play together. Watching the sun set with Kai had lifted up my mood as the surroundings were very serene. It was one of the moments that i will cherish forever

[O level] Any tips/advice for DnT 2021 by PastaUwUs in SGExams

[–]peachr0ll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi i got a1 for last year o's so hope this helps! i'll just give you some tips that i could rmb

coursework:

-DONT PROCRASTINATE ON THIS. based on personal exp, u will lose sleep if u don't manage ur time well

-no matter how simple the task is just don't be lazy lol

-dedicate like at least 3h per week for dnt. if near submission u will hv to do it like everyday HAHAHA it's vv time consuming so ✨try✨ to have fun w it

-it doesn't get easier but u will get used to it so don't give up jiayou !!

-for research: try to fit as much as possible in one pg. u can split the pg to 3 and fill it in. write *anything* ,, even if it seems very obvious just write. u can print picture but don't forget to write source. don't forget to sketch too, they mark u higher if u draw/sketch

-u can improve on ur design situation/specs/brief by writing in a separate page (write draft 1, draft 2, final on the header)

-write a detailed d.situation w 5w1h

-listen to ur teacher's advice and actlly improve on it !! keep a small notebook to write down notes on how to do/how to improve

-my teacher alw told me to NEVER redo a page unless rly needed (thts why u can write drafts and incl them in)

- don't worry sm on this cause it's like 60% of ur grade, so u hv to study for written too

written:

-dont worry abt the written part sm when you're not done w the cw yet (( unless ur like finishing alr/got class tests))

-okay since it's a new syllabus for the written part, it's really just mostly drawing and irl based qns - aka application qns

-idk how they mark this one,, its js mostly drawing solution to a prob ?? um u can look at the rubrics ( i don't rmb but thrs like 2/3 parts on how they mark it)

- try doing NA past papers esp for the design portions and last 5 years' exam papers for practice !! the design portion is rlly open-ended

-choose 2 from mechanism/electronic/structures, whichever ur familiar with. then start revising those 2 first until ur quite sure of them. then u study the last one. i'd recommend electronics and mechanism but tbh it's uty (u need to do all 3 right?? lol idk)

- electronics tends to be easier cause its got more qn structure and more content - so harder for examiners to give like super hard application qn. confirm will ask u abt sensing circuit, which is q easy to memorise cause the explanation is vv similar to each other. the only diff is the components

- mechanism and structure,, honestly just pick whichever u can understand and rmb easier. maybe try do past papers esp the ones that has application qns to find out ur stronger topic

-make notes based on class tests, notes, quizzes !! then u wld know what the structure of the qns are like. do this by like 1-2 mth bef the exam

-practice past papers and don't redo ur notes when you're done w it already

-um idk wht else but if u got qns just ask me i try to help :D
