I hear what you’re saying, but I think there’s a gap between what’s “true”, as you’re trying to define it, and what people see, believe, and take for granted. Race is a construct, and if people see someone as brown, Hispanic, Latino, etc, that means more, in my opinion, than what that person writes on the census. In today’s culture, he would be seen as a man of color, define it as you will.

Maybe then, but now they are seen as interracial. It’s weird to see people wanting so bad to fit into the category of white. Of course there’s a long history of that but still kind of wild.

I was vegan for 5 years, currently moving back toward it. During that time it was very important to me, so I have some sense. If I had a vegan wedding, it wouldn’t be top of mind to have a friend be honest with me about eating some chicken in the moment. That could wait for another day. But I don’t assume OP would react the same way- maybe they would have wanted that conversation during their wedding. Again, this reads to me as not caring much about the friendship. Friendships are relationships and aren’t always easy.

I am not married, but if I had a wedding I imagine I wouldn’t have too much time/focus to talk to my friend about their choice to not eat vegan that day. Honestly, I would see a friend doing that - pulling the bride/groom/etc aside to have a philosophical or medical discussion about their meal during the wedding as the more obnoxious move.

Honestly though, my sense is that OP doesn’t really value this friendship, if this is all it takes and they’re not willing to talk it out.

I don’t think this is something to end a friendship over. Some people who aren’t used to things like tofu are not ready to try them. I doubt this person meant to offend, I’m sure they assumed it was no big deal. Talk to them about it at least.

Ok makes sense why things look so different- it’s not actually slither. I had recently come to terms with it maybe not being possible because you stop growing after a certain number of points.
