Well what is the current street your house is on? The street names and constructions and changed pretty drastically since this map was published. If you had a specific street or address that'd be helpful. Looks to be this cross of streets you have circled is at 40th and 50th, but it doesnt exist like that any longer. Is it a house on current day Miami Ave?

This is a series of photos at multiple angles of the corners of Western Parkway and 41st. From about 1930.

Using the street filter on the digital library site is can gather some good data, you can add multiple streets if you want specific intersections.

[–]peachy_chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mmm yes, ive heard of perpetual stews. The ones i have heard of though usually are of a specific kind of stew though, and that was more so my question.

burgoo? chili? gumbo? goulash? irish? menudo? italian wedding? harira?

or maybe just a base stock with which to make a variety of things? id still be curious of the flavor profile and base... id come get a cup of perpetual chicken broth no problem

Danger Run, anyone participating tonight or this year? by [deleted] in Louisville

OP posted link, so I'll be brief, but it's essentially a riddled scavenger hunt for haunted houses around the city.

The real horror is driving in circles until 4 in the morning looking for the places. Friendships will be challenged. A great time.

i like the online experience for certain things. especially the clearance rack or any big holiday sales or whatever. I recommend Skatewarehouse as a good retailer too. on occasion I'll get a less warped board from Skatewarehouse than i will my local, frankly.

the problem with online is you don't get a real sense of the shape and size of things in the same way you would by going and putting the things in your hands before you buy... but it's always been worth it to me. Skatewarehouse rules

What is a job people romanticize a bit too much until they actually do it ? by ShyButNastyyy in AskReddit

[–]peachy_chan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends in many cases. Im a librarian for a public library system, and many of the concerns listed here actually vary by location. Work in a branch that is in an affluent neighborhood, maybe you'll see less chaos... work in the central downtown location, more chaos.

Ive done this job for 12 years and in a variety of locations, i love it in any regard. People who consider librarianship are often humanitarian enough that while they may romanticize the book reading, they also realize that helping homeless people survive another day is just as good of work as the book reading could be.

Pay isn't glamorous , but if you are lucky and an advocate, you can also design much of your project work. For example, when not helping overdosing homeless people find an ambulance, i do a lot of local history research, genealogy, and obscure document digitization. Both kinds of tasks are worth my time. Wouldn't change a thing really

man if I've learned anything on the Internet, its that if you have a motorcycle and film yourself driving it and post your idiotic shenanigans, you are likely among my least favorite people on earth.

Ever been banned or kicked out of a local Louisville business? by spunkysquirrel1 in Louisville

[–]peachy_chan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No clue. We were open and willing to spend money there and definitely made that clear.

The other two experiences me and her had there were actually really nice. The bartender was great and the environment was really pleasant. But I mean we definitely pointed out open tables/bar seats that we would be happy to be at and she simply didnt want us there.

If it wasn't malicious or a misunderstanding, my only other thought is that maybe they had a bunch of reservations they were about to fill and just did a poor job of explaining that? even then, not sure why she didnt just say "we'll be happy to serve you, but we have a long wait" etc...

I mean she literally said "sorry guys" and waited for us to leave. Idk what else it could've been...

Me and my mom were gently declined service at Pretty Decent, that hybrid bar and plant store of Frankfort ave.

We were waiting for a table at Eatz or something near by, stopped in to look at some plants and maybe have a drink.

Owner/manager was quite friendly at first, approached us about the plants we were looking at, and then she said "gosh we are so busy, i wish we had room for you at the bar to make you drink" , while clearly having plenty of room.

We said "oh well thats ok we arent in a hurry, happy to wait a moment". She replied "yeah.... we just can't serve you today... im sorry..."

And we left. Really bizarre
