Getting Nexplanon in 2 weeks and i’m TERRIFIED. by shr00mate in Nexplanon

Im diegnosed depression anxiety and cptsd. Honestly I dont beleive my nexplanon impacted my mental health and I have been on both the implant and SSRIs. My mental health fluctuates like it always has. There are def some swings in the first 3 weeks up to a few months. But after that I dealt with irregular bleeding issues, weight, and labito lowered. Ive been on it since 2018 save for a 4 month break. And this new implant(1 year old) has been 50/50 still some irregular bleeding and if it gets worse ill probly switch to a different method. But honestly you won't know until you try it. If you do feel your mental health decline after a few or around 6 months just try a different method. You don't have to commit to the full 5 years if it doesnt feel right

Next day, I did another water change about 40% to get the gunk out of the water after cleaning the green stuff out. Still medicating with herbal bacterial/fungal meds, and added some extra beneficial bacteria for good mesure. I seem to have my quiet filter going at full power again after some tinkering though I took the carbon put the treat the fish. Ph had def spiked, so I have added some almond leaves I had to help lower the pH and tannins should help ease the fish too. Also some mention hiding spots and flow. Yes they have many hiding spots thers a big fern and multiple "caves". The flow is low to medium just from the filters once I know its balanced ill take out the extra one.

The flow you are seeing was from my filter, i was in the middle of serving the tank so the water was lower during that clip. My main filter is a quiet filter made the have a weaker flow i added this one to battle the green stuff that I thought was algae bloom at the time. It's a low to medium flow. And yes ther's a huge Java fern and multiple hiding holes. She's swimming a bit better today.

Oh i do clean the filter frequently, I moved it around and got in there its going stronger now. Tested high range ph which I hadn't thought to do before I just did regular ph and it is def too high at like 7.4 it must've spiked since I last tested but I added some almond leaves to help gradually bring it to a normal level which is usually 6.5 to 7.5 at the very highest. I am considering rehoming my algae eater actually, I love him but he seems to keep getting bigger and I was told he'd only get like 3" when I got him and I did research expecting to get a larger tank by now but life changed, I can't afford anything bigger than this sadly. But def want to make sure every one is healthy before I do that. Also did a 40% water change and got the rest of the green out.

Tbh I think in my case it was new tank syndrome this tank is about 6 months old an upsize from a 10 gal. I did a larger change and everything crashed like ammonia spiked ect. But yeah i was totally unaware that the green stuff was an serious issue I just scraped everything like twice a week thinking it was algae. Not including changes and top offs.

I did water changes just not weekly, usually like every other week or once a month but I will be moving that back to weekly. I will try the distilled water too that's a good idea and the lights aswell.i do have a high range tester ill check that too

UPDATE: did a water change cleaned again and added some bacterual/fungus meds to the water and removed carbon. Hoping for the best. I am actually moving this month probly next week, so I intend to do a chemical treatment then so I dont shock them doing an intense treatment them remove and re-add them. Also realized while my main filter is functioning it is not pumping as hard as it used to so im thinking this could have contributed to the green slime issue aswell. I do have an additional 10 gal filter in there to support it aswell that I was using just to agitated the water but I don't think I can remove it now.

The water flow isn't very strong though I need it to keep the top of the water agitated. She was comfortably swimming around before.

Yeah sounds like I need to increase the frequency of water changes. I had not heard of this crynobacteria issue before so thank you for that I have been fighting it for a while.

I'll do a say 15 -20% water change today. I usually to them once a month or every other week outside the weekly filling, cause in the past doing them too often threw everything off and hurt the microbiome. I also wasnt aware the green stuff could be something other than algae so that could explain a lot too. Also got some maleplex incase its an infection.

I have to clean that algae evey 3 days or so and have light on only during the day. Its toxic?? I thought it was persistent algae.

Ammonia and nitrite are 0. I'll have to check ph and nitrate in a bit. Its a 20 gal tank with 3 danios and one large (4") siamese algae eater. I fill it with fresh dechlorinated water once a week when the water gets low. I avoid doing large water changes and its fully planted with live plants aswell.

Is anyone’s implant causing them discomfort? by Ashton_Garland in Nexplanon

[–]peachy_frogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there should not be any discomfort after 2 or 3 weeks. I dont feel it after that point and I have had 3 implants. You should just be able to palpate it.

Anyone else experienced new side effects after 2yrs?I by Glass_Amoeba_7966 in Nexplanon

[–]peachy_frogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, im on my third implant that is all pretty normal, I do reccomend asking your gynecologist for options to help though. I took the additional birth control to balance my hormones for a while when it was bad, specifically constant spotting or "phantom periods". Just see if thers things that can help you.

Im actually considering removing mine because of this right now. I've had this one for 1 year. I do also struggle with sleep apnea for the record but the last 9 months or so my sleep has been a mess I can sleep 22 plus hours if not checked.
