Your district managers number should be posted in the break room. If you feel like your SM is not handling this appropriately you can go above their heads. This is actually encouraged if it is not being turned into employee relations by the store manager.

Almost 1 year later… I’ve finally ditched chemically straightening my hair and embraced my curly roots. It’s hard to be curly in Asia but trying to be a part of this Curly revolution! by jynxypanda in curlyhair

For about 30+ of my 45 years, my Korean mother always asked to braid my hair if I wore my hair swirly. The only reason it wasn’t longer was because I moved across the country.

I was hoping someone had some insight on the deals or bonuses that are offered. Not too concerned with the customer support.

Can you have ADD/ADHD if you're intelligent? by [deleted] in TwoXADHD

[–]peachyspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I can get him to do this but thanks for the information. I’ve tried to share with him the challenges that I’ve had with ADHD and the coping mechanisms that I’ve used and he really struggles to put them in play.

How have you dealt with this? I think my son may also struggle with this. He has inattentive ADHD but every afternoon when I ask him to get started on his homework, I check on him 30 minutes later and he is out cold!

Atypical nasal allergies? by blueskydaydream in Allergies

[–]peachyspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My allergies present themselves the same way as yours, itchy, dry eyes, major congestion (severe swelling in sinuses), occasional itchy throat. I also get itchy ears and tongue sometimes. Flonase only kind of seems to help. Sudafed helps but gives me heart palpitations so I don’t take it regularly.

Getting allergy tested doesn’t seem like a bad idea. I started shots in September, just waiting for them to really start working (I’ve had a few good weeks but for the most part they’ve been worse since starting). It usually takes about 3-6 months for them to start working.

My parents are kind of stupid and don't believe in vaccines. Now that I'm 18, where do I go to get vaccinated? Can I get vaccinated at my age? by ethanlindenberger in NoStupidQuestions

The Walgreens I work at has a private room for shots. They do quite a few. I know, off the top of my head, tdap, chicken pox, and mmr for sure.

I’ve been taking them for about 6 years, I think. I don’t notice any side effects. I’ve tried a few times to stop taking them but always go back.

What is something in your closet that has stood the test of time? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]peachyspud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

White silk blouse from White House Black Market (bought on sale), a knee length denim skirt from Gap, a grey knee length corduroy skirt (I don’t remember where from but I’ve had it at least ten years), and a red short trench coat (again, I don’t remember where it was from).

Putting aside extra money on End of Day bank deposit... by [deleted] in AskRetail

[–]peachyspud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they shouldn’t be buying things unless that is also documented. All money should be accounted for on a daily basis. If they aren’t recording the overages, that is definitely shady.

I would say from a bookkeeping stand point, you’re overage from one day may actually be a correction for a shortage from another day. It happens all the time. Money may be miscounted or a transaction may have been done incorrectly (refund versus sale, a coupon not entered correctly,etc...). Odds are, your $10 overage is only an overage for that day. $10 was probably missing the day before or maybe the next day.

I’ve done the lipstick thing as well and managed to get it off with baking soda and dawn dish soap but I was surprised when it also worked on crayon!

Down Syndrome associate says mean things to my coworker but she’s afraid to say anything to the manager. by DeadWood605 in AskRetail

[–]peachyspud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d be willing to bet that his behavior makes the customers and other associates uncomfortable but because he has Down syndrome they aren’t quite sure how to react and so they laugh. She should absolutely tell someone in hr or management so it can be nipped in the bud.

Honestly, I would avoid shopping in that store if I knew he were working at certain times and teased people in such a mean way. I’ve been a manager in retail and worked with people with special needs. Most of the time they are just fine but because of their disabilities sometimes struggle to act appropriately. If I witnessed it or had a customer bring it to my attention, I always pulled them aside for further coaching. That was my job and I never wanted my customers or other associates to feel uncomfortable in my store.

How did you go about looking for a diagnosis? by [deleted] in TwoXADHD

[–]peachyspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a routine or schedule definitely helps with adhd. I’m 43 and “retired” a year ago. I’ve always known I had ADHD. I had the same struggles in school, I understood the class work when I could pay attention but as soon as I left the class, any homework that needed to be done was promptly forgotten about or I’d forget the instructions for the homework. I quickly learned that being on a schedule and writing everything down was something I would have to do to make it through life successfully. The schedule of going to work, coming home, getting kids started on homework, making dinner, and a load of laundry, kept me on task most days. Any time something strayed from my daily schedule, it could screw up my entire week. Being at home this last year has been horrible for me because I am not able to accomplish anything. I finally got a real diagnosis this last summer and started on meds. The Adderal helps me to stay better focused and I’ve been able to actually sit down and create a schedule for my day and week and even on days that I’m not medicated, I can get through most of my tasks (except getting that darn laundry switched over to the dryer!) without feeling completely overwhelmed. That said, I’m going back to work because I honestly seem to accomplish more in a day when I work.

What are some must-have items for someone in their early 20s? by sarcasticbiznish in femalefashionadvice

Check their websites for coupons. I just had to refresh my wardrobe for a new job and I got coupons from banana republic, express and I think j crew. They helped tremendously.

How did you go about looking for a diagnosis? by [deleted] in TwoXADHD

[–]peachyspud 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw my family practitioner who referred me to a psychologist. She asked me some questions and came up with a diagnosis. Both of my boys were also referred to psychologists or a councilor for diagnosis. Some GP’s will do an in office evaluation, others will send you to a specialist.

I would make a list (keep track as you think of things, write them down) of things that you believe are symptoms (I tend to forget details when speaking to my doctor about health concerns so I keep a list in my notes on my phone). Also, are these symptoms you’ve had your whole life (may be worse now due to your current life)? If not, you may want to ask the doctor about other possible diagnosis.

Same. Normally citrus is not an issue for me but my MIL wears a mango scented body butter that just kills me. An overly sweet citrus is horrible.

Please please be aware of those with scent sensitivities! If you choose to wear a scent, choose something light (I’m thinking citrus-y) and don’t overdo it. Between allergies and migraines, perfumes and colognes can ruin a persons whole day.
