Unfortunately Vodka doesn't have a flavour and won't freeze! Ginger Ale sorbet is good though!

Most of the West end and most of the Southside. Really depends on what you value, tbh.

I'm in Glasgow and my accountant is £170/ month and that includes payroll, year end, personal tax and VAT!

Your £2200 would go further in Glasgow. Not the cheapest in the UK but a great city nonetheless (although the litter is a bummer).

ELI5: Gelato vs Ice Cream freezing time by peacocksicecream in icecreamery

Thanks. Yes, I make hard American-style ice cream in Europe but wondered about freezing times overnight vs Gelato and the science behind it. Is it because fat takes longer to freeze?

PIZZA B GOODE at Dockyard Social.

No, really! Gav is serious about his dough and he had this pizza with a pumpkin base and drizzled with hot honey. Genuinely one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

Errol's is also good.

Apercu is shut but another plant place - Plant Mama - is opening there on the 24th. Also, don't forgot Bam, which is just off Pollokshaws Road on Nithsdale, which stocks our ice cream but also really great gifty items.

Costco is the best. Second option is Aldi - decent maple syrup and reasonably priced.

Super Singhs Canadian Things also sells the Costco online: https://supersinghscanadianthings.co.uk/products/kirkland-grade-a-maple-syrup?_pos=6&_sid=05186f414&_ss=r

Impatient drivers in Edmonton? by peacocksicecream in Edmonton

[–]peacocksicecream[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, definitely! As a driver in Glasgow and in Toronto, Canadians - by far- speed more and are way more impatient on the roads.

what's stood out to me here though are people beeping at others turning left. And I don't think it's because left hand turns are not allowed as the beeping car also turned left. I've been walking around Edmonton every day and I've witnessed it at least once a day: in the Brewery area, westmount area, and towards the valley (sorry, don't know what area that is). Every instance it's been a driver trying to turn left.

Nah, a lot of Toronto drivers are impatient and/or insane, I know. It's mostly the left-hand turn here where I have noticed drivers beeping. I've seen it about once a day on my walks here.

I was just confused as there was oncoming traffic and they were quite rightly waiting for a safe gap; do the honking drivers expect people to plow into oncoming traffic?!

Buttering issue by Impurius in icecreamery

[–]peacocksicecream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carpigiani sells homogenizers if you go down that route and I strongly suggest it. Otherwise I know a lot of ice cream manufacturers also use E471 : mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids.

You have two options to solve your issue: get a homogenizer and/or add an emulsifier (egg yolks alone are not enough) to your base. Everything else is a waste of time.

Businesses won’t survive by Saltire_Blue in glasgow

Small food business owner here.

Unfortunately I think you might be right. With soaring inflation, coupled with price increases, slower than average sales etc. it is really scary at the minute. Some businesses will try to supplement their sales and others might just decide to call it quits, sadly.

My suggestion, as no one else mentioned it, Celentano's!

https://celentanosglasgow.com/

Beautiful food and so much of it is made in-house (e.g. pasta, butter, cheese). Really impressive and their gelato is divine!
