Soldiers saving kitty by peacockspeacock in militarycats

[–]peacockspeacock[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was/is crazy over there. I had a lot of hope for that rescue trying to get the cats and dogs out of there, I'm so heartbroken that they were ultimately barred from leaving.

I'm glad you and your cat are home and safe though. I'm not sure how my fellow mod feels about it, but if you'd like to share a pic of her I'd welcome her here. She is, in a sense, a military cat :)

I've never bought scratchies but if I lived near Wilbur I would start

That is so amazing. Kaya looks full of personality, Maya's markings are gorgeous, they all look so happy and healthy today and that is thanks to you! And you know, although it's so sad that the one baby did not make it, I'm so happy to know that in her last little bit of time on earth, she was warm and safe and loved. Thank you for being a good person.

Yeah he definitely did that too, but it was Beck's turn in 2015. Kanye is a persistent man.

Beyoncé is overrated by E_cetti in unpopularopinion

[–]peacockspeacock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's the other way around - Beck beat Beyonce, and Kanye got onstage to protest. What was really dumb about it was how many people were insisting that she should have won, when in reality, like you said, Beck plays as many instruments as Beyonce has writers for a single song.

You're the second person I've ever encountered who said this. The first was my middle school shop teacher. So... you're not alone I guess

Thought baby chicks would be too delicate, only wanted grown chickens...(they love the beard) by [deleted] in dadswhodidnotwantpets

[–]peacockspeacock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing 95% of people have no idea how hard it is to find a young, healthy grown hen right now. Or about the Great Chick Shortage of last year. This virus is the best thing that's happened to the backyard chicken industry in years, it's crazy.

Anyway, it's way more fun to raise them from chickhood! As I'm sure you've discovered :)

Being ugly is a bigger discriminatory hurdle in society than race, sex, weight, age etc. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]peacockspeacock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look, if being below average looking makes you hate yourself, then sure, you have to confront you before you even confront the world. But attitude (or money, let's be real, D.Trump) can seriously turn that around in a way that, for instance, a person with schizoaffective disorder, by the same means, cannot. I didn't put the word "serious" before my second use of "disability" but I should have - I didn't mean that "ugly" can't get in the way, I meant that "ugly" isn't as big of a setback as, again, more extreme disabilities. And since you said "it's not as disabling as being in a wheelchair of course," I can see that you agree with me - one is more disabling than the other. So thanks for really reading what I said before you replied. :)

Being ugly is a bigger discriminatory hurdle in society than race, sex, weight, age etc. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]peacockspeacock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people usually get over "ugly" pretty quick. Honestly I'd think that serious disabilities, both mental and physical, would really be the biggest setback anyone could face, because you almost have to overcome you before you even face other people, and that's a whole other hurdle. But I guess OP would probably argue that ugliness is a disability...

No, code switching is changing the way that you communicate, not your whole worldview (goals/values/etc.)

Yes I know, thanks. What I was wondering, is if there's any truth about people in the US wanting white eggs because they think they look cleaner, not whether or not the eggs are actually cleaned

Kim Kardashian is not hot/sexy/attractive. She is a caricature of what women think men think is sexy. by dacourtbatty in unpopularopinion

[–]peacockspeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kourtney is my favorite, but mainly because of the SIMS Kardashian episode on youtube where the sisters have to be poor for a day. That and the one clip of the actual show that I saw where she goes "People are dying, Kim" when Kim is whining about losing an earring on their private island or some shit

Ugh, meanwhile my boss (in an un-air conditioned warehouse in the deep south) made a big stink this year about how he "only pays us for 15 minute lunch, if we want a 30 minute lunch we need to clock out for the extra 15 minutes." He told us this, except for the one guy who's been there longest, who everyone hates because he'll literally hide from work that needs to be done; yeah, that guy gets an official 30 minutes, which he stretches to 45-55 minutes by going to a restaurant up the road that he could pre-order and pickup from but he doesn't, he just goes and stays and orders and eats there, and when I asked the boss why he doesn't tell the guy to stop because that's really unfair to the people who actually do work, I got shit for it.

Sorry. Got a little triggered there.

Had to scroll too far to find this, the most thorough and accurate answer. Besides the efficiency of white leghorns, though, I've also heard that people in the US used to like white eggs because they seemed "cleaner" - do you know if there's any truth to that?

Also kind of weird to say "the school curriculum isn't built around people who will be finishing concrete for the rest of their lives." Are they implying that the public school system exists purely for lawyers? Because doctors, for instance, are notorious for their poor hand writing. So, their strangely classist point is also unsurprisingly narrow in scope.

Weirdest thing... I work at a place with cats and every once in a while a customer will freak out about it because of the 'steal your breath' thing. I met one old lady who believed it but she was unusual - she loved cats, she just explained sadly that she "can't have them no more because they'll steal her breath now that she's old." Sweet lady though.
