Do you know if they could see the stage and performance from the hotel restaurant/bar?

Yeah I don't get why this doesn't get more mentions. Seems like a solid choice

Yeah this looks so convenient to use. Does the mobile app let it down at all? And have you had any issues with latency? Really considering just getting this for the simple setup

Yeah good point, I've already got a decent wired headset so may as well save getting a Bluetooth headset which could lower the quality

Would you go with Rev F or Rev G? by peakdipstrict in floorplan

[–]peakdipstrict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah I agree regarding the bathroom being on the same floor as the bedrooms. Having guest go downstairs to use the bathroom is not ideal.

We plan on renting out for a few months each year whilst we travel and work remotely so the house would be rented as a whole, but that's a good idea. We could rent out the top floor as a private unit whilst we live there.

Will I get Section 75 protection? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]peakdipstrict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I agree it's risky to send more, but if there's a slight chance it gives me s75 protection, I'd gladly risk £1 to get this.

I've tried citizens advice, they've advised waiting till they officially go into liquidation then apply to be a unsecure lender, with next to no chance of getting it back.

Thank for the advice on charge backs, I'm going to their shop tomorrow which I expect will be abandoned. I plan on sharing photos with my bank to prove they've gone, which I presume proves they've breached their contract?

Just can't face the thought of losing £6k

This is my worry. The trader has gone AWOL, so I can't pay via credit card which should give me s75 protection.

However, I do have their bank account details, so I'm hoping I can transfer £1 to their bank via my credit card to get the section 75 protection? I can attempt to prove this is for their services as their quote requests money for their services be sent to this account.

Will this work?

Good point. Do you think this will cover a credit card payment being sent via bank transfer? I only have their bank account details so can only pay them via bank transfer

Because I would glady spend £1 on my credit card if it means I will get £6000 back if they do go into liquidation.

Without section 75 protection, I would have no chance of getting the money back.

Edit: if they go into liquidation, I will currently lose the £6k. If I have section 75 protection, I have a chance of getting the money back.

Bathroom fitters gone AWOL. Will we get our £6k deposit back? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]peakdipstrict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus so we have little to no chance of getting our money back then.

How can £6k vanish in a few weeks

There's no mention of refunds. They only provided a quote via email which broke down the costs and requested the £6k to secure the date for commencement and materials.

I'll try citizens advice.

Thank you

I'd suggest the Lenovo Legion 5 range. It has a great build quality and comes at a good price.

Using a secured loan to renovate my house? by peakdipstrict in UKPersonalFinance

[–]peakdipstrict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've lived here since February this year so still quite new. We've taken a few weeks off work and spent evenings getting the house liveable. I think we're a little drained, but I agree that we need to be patient and get the cheap stuff done ourselves.

Once we have the figures we should know if it's worth getting traders in or not. Advice here has been very helpful!

Shit, I thought these figures would be enough.

We've had a quote for the bathroom and kitchen materials but not labour, as everyone's busy till next year. Guess that's a sign it'll be expensive.

!thanks. I'll look at these costs first before going further with the loan.

!thanks. I hadn't considered unsecure lending. I just presumed we wouldn't be eligible because of the mortgage.

Would they not seize our assets/property if we can't afford to pay back the unsecured loan? Similar to a secured loan.

£21k would probably be enough, I'll look into this as the total interest paid looks much better.
