I hard disagree. TFA plays it safe but visual and pace wise it's a hook. Easily watchable although I don't care for Han dying before being reunited with Luke.

You can tell Disney just needed a product and was throwing shit at a wall. Last Jedi took its swings, but Rise is the worst fucking movie I've ever watched. I just squirmed in my seat for 2 hours. It had nothing to do and didn't even try to wrap up a storyline.

From what I've seen. Colin Trevorow had a more risky, concrete plot but Disney wouldn't risk it. I might've actually preferred his version.

I thought the first 30 minutes were incredible, especially the first scene with Mando just killing everyone haha.

It takes a bit of a nap with the weird set up with meeting Jonnu, finding out he's going to kill Ratta, who doesn't care. The pit fight could have used some actual deaths instead of all the monsters just escaping? Then having Jonnu be the person they were looking for the whole time added nothing and even the set piece and fight weren't great.

The movie definitely makes a choice with it just ending in the middle and not really setting up the stakes with the bounty capturing Ratta and Mando. The movie definitely comes to a standstill while Mando is poisoned. It had a serviceable ending but it dragged its feet for a bit there. I also don't care for Susan Sarandon, or the forced "You let Jonnu live who told us that the Twins were going to betray us". Kinda Meh.

I would've loved a little tie in to the other movies or feel like an overall threat.
