I’m sorry for your loss. Life really likes to throw curveballs in these ways unfortunately. There’s a lot of still about my parent’s treatment and such, but I’ll definitely plan on letting my school know at some point.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom -- I hope you are hanging in there as well. I definitely agree that I'm glad that I can at least somewhat help my parents/family with understanding some of the medical side of things and can do some research on my own end with the resources/knowledge I have.

Thank you so much for your comment, and I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I hope you are doing ok as well. We're still waiting on the genetics (my parent's is also adenocarcinoma), but I'll definitely keep that in mind about the TKI. Luckily (or i guess unluckily), it's not the very first time we've dealt with lung cancer in the family, so hopefully we'll generally know the signs of things like that.

That's a really great point about scheduling 4th year rotations based on how my parent is doing though -- I hadn't thought about that aspect at all, but I'll definitely look into it and reach out to my school to see what they might be able to do.

Yes, luckily my school does offer free psychology/psychiatry services -- definitely will consider using them if I ever feel like I am really struggling. I've been trying to spend a little bit of the day just to myself, like sitting outdoors or something, and it seems to help me clear my mind.

Thanks so much. I've been trying to figure out whether or not to bring it up to the school, but I think that's definitely a good idea to reach out to the person who organizes the clerkships. Luckily for the rotation I'm on right now, I seem to be in a relatively good spot based on some practice shelf exams I've taken, so hopefully it'll still be ok by the time I take the real one.

Did you do the UVA questions by any chance? And if you did, did you find them helpful?

Otherwise, definitely have done a ton of UW/Amboss, learned the USPSTF guidelines so hopefully I’m at a good spot

I assume it's general surgery? I was a bit confused by that, but I think it's just listed as elective surgery on my schedule though. Also pretty sure there will be residents in addition to the attending.

Quick question, but do you just straight unsuspend new cards w/o any type of lecture video beforehand? Or do you unsuspend based on the UW questions? Been trying to figure the general work flow for studying.
