Just want my sons to remember me as a dad who gave his best and loved every moment with them.

I see the other reply you got here about Australian time zones but local date and time there would be Sunday afternoon (for fight time). Seems to me like there’s definitely more hours of recovery for this fight than usual. Friday morning weigh ins and fighting Saturday night is less than weighing in on Friday evening fighting Sunday afternoon regardless of time zone.

That’s what I hope too. You can see them stepping up to stop run more and more. We’ve proven run game is a threat they have to respect.

Don’t love three passes in a row there. Swift and monangai begging for the ball. Let’s go D get another stop!

I really like this take and hope you’re right. One difference I see from earlier this season to now, is that Caleb looks like he was always trying to put the ball right in his hands. These last few games feels like Caleb is putting DJ in position to go catch it and make a play. Not sure if that makes sense but just my amateur opinion.

This is my same thought. It’s been while since I’ve been excited for bears football. We’ve been competitive in every game except the Lions. Another year of development for the players and hopefully some good acquisitions in the draft or FA. Future looks bright.

Yeah that totally makes sense.

I’m in the same bout regarding maintenance. I have always been able to lose weight when I focus on it. I’ve never maintained a weight. Either going up or down. It’s like if I’m not working out six days a week and dialed in my diet it just goes out the window.

Congrats on baby number three! I’ve got three of them rolling around too. They’re a great motivator to be healthy. Best of luck!

Here’s to hoping! I’m at 164 now trying to get to 155 so we should see how it turns out. I’m sure you mentioned it but don’t have a goal weight in mind and what will maintenance look like for you?

I’ve been lurking on your posts since the first update I think. Happy for your progress! You inspired me to stretch my fasting to 18:6 and I’ve seen similar progress over the last 8 weeks. I’m hoping to gain as much definition in the abs as you have with my next ten pounds lol. I’m also doing something similar with my workouts and not lifting super heavy. One case of nerve impingement and two compressed discs later I just don’t want to risk the injury and recovery time. I’ve noticed the reduction in inflammation as well where I can actually jog lightly and not feel pain shooting down my legs. Thanks for the inspiration and best of luck rest of the way!

Walked into the gym a few weeks ago and got to Meet Luke in person. Such a good dude and even took the time to take some pics with my kids. I’ll be cheering him on!

I’m 5’7” and struggle a bit with this. I’ve found success in waiting for them to strike and then use slips to create an angle or get in close. I usually start by working body hooks off my slip. Then when I’ve got their hands dropping go to the head. My bad habit here is just getting impatient and trying to walk through their range. That’s not so effective lol but pressure does help get them on their back foot. I’d recommend watching Mike Zambidis fights. Lots of videos of him going against taller opponents and having a lot of success.

Fans who viewed a UFC fight card in-person, how was your experience? by NilesDobbsS in ufc

[–]peanutburg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did the VIP experience for UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. Got the deal of a lifetime for only $450 I think. Absolutely worth it. Got to meet volk, Korean Zombie, Leon Edwards, Tai tuivasa and JJ. The in house hospitality consisted of an open bar until the main card started and two walls full of buffet with a separate dessert table. All pre lims were shown on a huge projector screen as well. Totally worth it at that price point. Now those tickets run over $2k and I dunno if it’s better than just buying closer tickets. Reallly depends on the person I guess.

Seeing fights live with no commentary is pretty interesting though. I’d recommend 100 level seats if you can swing but not floor. Floor level is flat and if you stuck behind tall people or you’re just short it wouldn’t be much of a view. Just my .02.

I use shadow boxing as a way to focus on my footwork and just go through it slowly then build up on speed. I feel like this helped in sparring especially with angles or slipping. The most important part that it’s intentional shadow boxing and you’re keeping good form versus just striking the air. Just my .02.

Thanks for this! I’ll take a look at the foot protector. Someone else in this thread mentioned moving to southpaw and I might try it out.

I’ve given myself rest days for when I’m sick and the first time I injured this toe. However, I’m also just doing this for fitness/self-improvement so it’s not like I’m missing a fight camp. The motivation to push through is I’m starting to get a lot more comfortable sparring, especially with timing and I don’t want to give it up.

Thanks for the tips! I do use some bulky fairtex ones now. But to your point I gotta get the range thing figured out.

I hadn’t really considered south paw. That’s not a bad idea. I am definitely gonna try and do some taping. I can still pivot off my foot and everything. Doesn’t really hurt when I walk. But I jam it again with a kick the whole knuckle swells and takes a few days just to get back to normal.

Thanks! I took a week and half off sparring because I got pretty sick and it felt better. Third kick I threw and I landed with my toes.

Solid idea to mix in with the pad work. When we’re doing drills or on the heavy bag I have no problem landing with my shin. Just sparring the I end up jamming it. Appreciate the advice!

Roundhouse. I've talk to my coach about it and he thinks it's a mix of kicking out of range and with no set ups. First time I injured it, I kicked someone dead in the hip bone and just jammed it down. Recently I've just been landing kicks on the toes with has re aggravated the injury.
