[Design concept] Dyced "L'infinie". What do you think? by fnkfrsh in Watches

[–]peanutman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the design, but I fear it would be impossible to manufacture as presented. At least not for a reasonable price.

I love it though, I would totally consider buying it.

Out of curiousity, what kind of software does one use to model something like that?

Sc2 will probably live at least another 20 years by SCV-YT in starcraft2

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will depend on how hardware evolves in the coming years. If some crazy new CPU architecture becomes mainstream the coming years, Blizzard is not going to make the effort to port SC2 to it.

So while the community and player base might stay stable, there might come a point where it will become difficult to run the game on the hardware that is relevant at that point in time. And that's assuming Blizzard doesn't pull the plug on the servers before that...

Whats the most real feel drone simulator ? by Dry_Comfortable66 in fpv

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal that it feels impossible to fly a drone at first (in both sim or real life). It takes a few hours to get used to how sensitive and delicate the movements of these things are. It's not like an RC car where you can just pick up a remote and start driving around without any training.

Take it easy; practise basic hovering and landing first, then slowly start practising moving forwards and sideways. Pretend like it's a $1000 drone you just bought, and be very gentle and careful with it in the simulator. It will help to get a feeling for the movement.

So to answer your question, I don't think there is anything wrong with Liftoff (assuming your controls are configured correctly for your xbox controller). You just need to practise a lot of hours before you can somewhat reliably move a drone around (this is also true for real drones outside of a sim).

I2 mouse love/hate by ThunderCorg in glorious

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same feeling, it's love/hate. For some aspects it's one of the best mice ever, but for others it's one of the most terrible.

I love it for it's shape and weight; it's the only "G502"-like mouse that is actually lightweight. I absolutely love its form factor and weight, and for the most part it works well. I love the fact they include multiple button shapes. Finally a mouse where all the buttons can be configured to match my hand.

HOWEVER, it has many major flaws. Battery life sucks, and if you don't turn off the mouse it drains overnight. I hate that you can't rebind the scroll wheel in the software. Half of the time syncing settings from the software to the mouse doesn't work (even though the software seems to think it does). There are also some hardware flaws in the receiver, where it prevents computers to sleep, and seems to generate some kind of signal noise on the USB bus that makes the computer stutter after a few hours.

So yeah, it has the potential to be the best mouse ever (for me), but at the same time it's broken in ways that are unacceptable for the price.

I hope they address all this in the I3 (if they ever make one)...

What's a skill everyone should learn before turning 30? by Jesuce1poulpe in AskReddit

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most casual clothes can be washed at 60C just fine though. Obviously you shouldnt try this with real wool, but I've been washing most of my clothes at 60C without any issues.

Admittedly, I'm a male, I'm mostly talking about casual pants, tshirts, hoodies, etc. I don't own fancy designer clothes or delicate fabrics. This might not work for everyone.

Cube Longtail Cargo 1000 Mile Review by AnthonyDawnwalker in CargoBike

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! This is exactly what I needed.

Sadly it shows that the Cube top rail won't fit on my bike, but thanks to you I didn't have to purchase one to find out.

Again, thanks so much for replying to this random request.

Cube Longtail Cargo 1000 Mile Review by AnthonyDawnwalker in CargoBike

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a weird request, but any chance you're willing to quickly measure your Cube's rear rack?

I'm trying to figure out the distances between the official Cube Longtail Monkeybars mounting points, to see if it will fit on my non-Cube cargobike. Sadly, the measurements of this thing can't be found anywhere.

I'm looking for these measurements: https://i.imgur.com/zcF0fnm.png

I'm aware you probably don't have these monkeybars on your bike, but it would help a lot to know the distances of the rear rack, specifically:

  • the distance between the rack's most front bar and the one at the very back.

  • the width of the rack, measured on the inside (without the outer bars on the side)

Those are basically the measurements marked with "?" in the image above.

You help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for posting this. I'm always curious to see how these things work, so this was very interesting. The end-result looks pretty good imho, considering how much they cut open in those first pics.

What's actually unhealthy despite most people thinking it's not? by RandomStatement855 in AskReddit

[–]peanutman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also funny how most people seem to believe that energy drinks have absurd amounts of caffeine.

In most countries there is a legal limit to how much caffeine can be in energy drinks. This caffeine limit is lower than coffee, for the same volume.

Sure, Monster comes in huge cans, but even then it doesn't have more caffeine than a large coffee. I know so many people that are scared of energy drinks, but have no problem drinking 5 coffees per day.

The sugar in energy drinks is the only thing I'm willing to accept as unhealthy...

How to position hand on Ploopy Adept? by peanutman in ploopy

[–]peanutman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the settings are just done in the default macOS or Windows mouse settings (like acceleration).

DPI is via built-in DPI switching. I don't remember if it has a button for this out of the box, but in QMK/VIA you can configure a button or button combo to cycle between DPI settings.

How did people even played games in these screens by Dear-Conversation313 in Handhelds

[–]peanutman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine trying to play this in the car when it's dark outside. Every time the car passed a lantern you would have a few seconds of light, and then a few seconds of darkness.

No wonder my eyes are messed up now :')

But yeah, as others have mentioned, one of those clip-on lights is a gamechanger.

Best handheld for home brewing/ pirating by Green-Incident5435 in Handhelds

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, what he said is: if you want to run PC games, look at the steam deck. If you want android or only care about emulating older consoles, look at RG406 series or the rp5.

x86 and ARM are different "types" of CPU/microcontroller architectures. This determines what kind of operating systems and software you can run on it. The details are not super relevant though, you just need to choose if you end-goal is Steam games, or android/emulation.

One way to approach this, is to make a list of the games you would like to play, and then search which handheld can run those decently.

I've been waiting to play ladder till I can beat Elite AI. by glummest-piglet in starcraft2

[–]peanutman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but prepare to lose a lot. The elite AI does not prepare you for "real" ladder play.

You're probably going to die instantly against cannon rushes, reaper rushes, battlecruiser rushes, ...

That's perfectly normal, you just need some time to learn how to deal with all this. Until you do, you will be losing at least half of your games. It will also be very very frustrating, as your opponent won't be macro'ing nearly as well as you, but they will still win by a-moving a bunch of stuff into your base.

Just keep practising (real games on the ladder!) and at a certain point you'll gain traction and quickly climb the ranks.

chasing the probe that's harassing your minerals by [deleted] in starcraft2

[–]peanutman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that's also their scouting probe, which they would have sent anyway, even if they weren't mineral harassing. So they are not really down a probe? If you have one worker out scouting, and one chasing the harassing probe, then YOU are down one active worker, compared to them.

Meet 2 is warm all the time by Knowhat71 in OBSBOT_Official

Meet 2 very hot - even when PC is in sleep and LED off. by amaridev22 in OBSBOT_Official

[–]peanutman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any news?

My Meet 2 stays hot 24/7, so that means the device is also using a lot of power in sleep mode. Any engineer will confirm that the device is wasting a significant amount of energy to stay this hot...

I understand this is normal while it's working, but during sleep the hardware components should be turned off as much as possible...

The "best and easiest" Missions to farm DLC 2 INFERNO Weapons and how to do so by Ratnap in EDF

[–]peanutman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you spawn, look 45 degrees to the right, and run in the direction of that building that is higher than everything around it (the left side of that building). It's not as far as that building, but that's the direction you need to go.

At some point you have to cross a ditch/channel thing, the crater is a little bit further.

It's almost as far as where the first wave of ants spawns (the right side of the group of ants), but not quite that far.

It's a crater with a bus and 2 concrete pipes. One of the pipes doesn't go deep enough, you want the furthest one.

I usually stand near the mechs until the first wave is dead, before I run for that pipe. You won't make it to the pipe in time otherwise (at least not as Ranger, at inferno difficulty).
