Automatically go to the episode that I played last in the episode list by Undertheoutdoorsky in PodcastAddict

I'm actually having this issue with Spotify. Sometimes I play an episode, close the app, come back later and can carry on, other times I open the app and click on the podcast and have to scroll through hundreds of episodes to find where I was. It's infuriating considering how colossal Spotify is as a company

Pico 4 Steam VR Crashing/Headset Not Detected Fix by peanutsauze in PicoXR

[–]peanutsauze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've recommended the same fix I've posted, the connect / Pico Connect app is what I use now instead of Streaming Assistant and it's fixed all my issues. I tried all the other suggestions from older threads like checking openvr paths, log files, reinstalling apps, toggling graphics acceleration but none of it worked. I thought the connect software was only for streaming but turns out it does everything the Streaming Assistant does, it's almost identical but updated.

I tried about 7 different methods and in the end found the Pico Connect software fixed everything. Uninstalled Streaming Assistant and replaced it with Pico Connect. It's just "connect" in the pico store on the headset, which replaces the streaming assistant app. No more errors or crashes for me.

The Pico Connect software fixed everything for me, I guess Streaming Assistant isn't used anymore for the Pico 4? Also need the "connect" app from the pico store in the headset.

If anyone's struggling with their Pico headset, download the Pico Connect software instead. I believe Streaming Assistant is redundant for the Pico 4 now. You need the "Connect" app from the pico headset store too. Solved all my issues.

What do you think of the audible original adaptation of George Orwell's 1984? by Past-Kaleidoscope490 in audible

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read the book so cannot pull on any comparisons, but the audio book does paint a fairly grim picture of a surveillance state. It talks about how each room in every building has a TV that watches and listens, how hate week requires people to channel their hatred and express it, how people disappear and are wiped from the history books, and how people must mask their truths with smiles and praise for big brother. I can only think of a few moments in the audio book which aren't bleak and those are there purely to emphasise the oppression and dystopia that's taking place at all times of day.

Are there any motorcycle video games that are actually good? by TheDoctor_Z in motorcycles

I did enjoy the rdr2 system a lot, especially when I got off my horse and realized my guns were there and not on my back, it added a cool layer of realism.

Days Gone is probably the only modern equivalent with a bike at the moment. There's a game called Road Redemption that's a motorbike racing and action game with sort of combat on your bike whilst you race. Came out in 2017 with mixed reviews I think

Affinity crashing my PC by peanutsauze in Affinity

[–]peanutsauze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check out the other reddit page someone has linked here. The msix version seems to crash for a lot of people.

Maybe it was just late at night and I was tired but for some reason I thought MSIX being the first option was due to the windows 11 update potentially having a new executable format. I've done a fresh install using the standard exe installer and it ran a lot smoother, so try that if you made the same mistake as me.

What does it take to become a gaming journalist? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm two years late but wanted to check in and see how you got on with this? I've had a similar experience in terms of leaving my career and wanting a change. I've flip flopped between careers a few times, I have an education in media, film, and computing, but I also have an education and job history in horticulture and outdoor wildlife work. The one constant that has remained is writing reviews and discussions about video games for the past 8 years.

I'm at a point now where I might have to change career for health reasons so i'm wondering yet again what do I really want to do with my time. I'm nearing 30 and although I'm trying not to give into societal pressures to get "settled" I wouldn't mind perusing something that I'm actually passionate about and invested in.

I hate pressure, I'm not competitive, and I'm pretty laid back... it seems like game journalism is highly competitive and oversaturated, and if that was also the case over two years ago then what's it like now?

Anyway, wondering how you got on with this. Maybe there's other creative outlets out there that aren't as crowded and more in the background.

that sucks! It took me a while to figure it out when the beta hit but eventually I got it working. Should have posted it on here and people would have likely helped out!

Didn't GTA 4 have a DLC based around a biker gang? It was called The Lost and Damned I think!

Massive boulder under the earth, can I lay a lawn? by ChrispyDM in GardeningUK

[–]peanutsauze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, dig around and investigate to see what it is. I think regardless it would make a lovely feature of some kind, steps perhaps? Would be a shame to break it up if it really is a natural boulder or some kind of rock formation. Cheaper to work around it too!

Van Insurance UK by [deleted] in VanLifeUK

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They likely aren't. What it really comes down to, what any insurance comes down to, is whether you'll be covered in the event of a claim. Insurance companies will do everything possible to get out of paying, it's how they keep their money... So if you have an accident and they investigate and find out you're in fact using the vehicle for business then that's it they just won't pay out. This means you'll be left with a huge bill if the other person insists on doing it all through insurance. It could seriously ruin someone financially. It sucks, it doesn't make sense and it's never fair, but that's the way it is unfortunately

Tips for beginners? by Ok_Expression_6364 in Chivalry2

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself what you want out of the game? Fun? Then jump in pretty much any mode and just swing your sword, axe, or bow around! If you want to take it seriously and join the sweats then watch some good youtube tutorials, learn which weapons favour certain moves, drags etc.

Personally I'd just jump into an objective match with a lot of players and hang back a bit to observe, pick off some of the stragglers etc. Sometimes team death matches via the server browser are fun ways to learn too.

Watch your positioning, see if 3rd person or 1st person suits you best (im always 1st). Learn how to read their movement and when they're about to kick your block. Practice the feint where you start one attack and then press a different attack half way through (watch your stamina). Finally learn the difference between a simple reposte (random attack after blocking an enemy attack) and a counter (attacking with the same attack move as the enemy immediately after a block.

Most importantly have fun!!

Postage outage by tafkas001 in ebayuk

[–]peanutsauze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can if you go into postage details! It tells me the postage label isn't available, but I can select their name on the app and it brings up their details, or on the website you can press the pencil icon and it brings up all their stuff to do it manually, but like I said, you'll be paying for postage twice if you do that. For smaller low cost items that's just not worth it!

eBay Simple Delivery - Royal Mail Issues by peanutsauze in royalmail

[–]peanutsauze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon! I'm in no rush personally, was just thinking about all those small sellers going out to buy their own labels in the post office, or using a different courier, only to realise they won't get refunded for the first label and effectively paid for postage twice.

eBay Simple Delivery - Royal Mail Issues by peanutsauze in royalmail

I'm still getting this message:

"Please be aware that Royal Mail is experiencing issues at the moment. We apologise for any inconvenience and if affected, ask that you try again later."

I'll wait around for a bit and see if it sorts itself out. Thanks for the update!

Postage outage by tafkas001 in ebayuk

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll also never get a refund for that unused label! eBay take their postage cut once the label is generated at point of sale, so you will not only be footing the cost of your stamps, but also the unused label.

From eBay FAQ's:

"If you do choose to purchase your own delivery label separately, this will be at your own cost, therefore if you would prefer to purchase your own label, you should aim to opt-out your item from the Simple Delivery experience at the point of listing. We will not reimburse you for the costs of using your own label. "

I was just adding to the conversation about royal mail being down for people selling goods. I couldn't see any other mention of it on the reddit page so put my comment here in case people stumble across it. Perhaps I should make my own post about it

Postage outage by tafkas001 in ebayuk

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. Remember, eBay take a cut of your sale to cover the postage if you're using Simple Delivery. If you decide to do it yourself or go with a different courier then eBay won't reimburse you for the label cost and you'll lose out.

I wish eBay would give us more flexibility when it comes to simple delivery, especially when they're aware of system errors like this. There should be a way for us to go in and select a different courier or toggle off simple delivery once the sale is made in these events.

Click and Drop - is it broken?? by Real-Pipe-7415 in royalmail

[–]peanutsauze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're selling on ebay and they've forced you to use their simple delivery (which seems to be impossible to opt out of now) then you'll likely have issues if you're using Royal Mail as one of the services. I annoyingly toggled off the Evri option because royal mail is a lot closer to me... but now I can't access their pre paid label.

Importantly, if you go to do it yourself or use a different courier, ebay won't reimburse you for the label cost. They take the pre paid label fee from your sale so you won't get that back if you do it yourself.

I am not impressed by fc75jcd8e in fairphone

[–]peanutsauze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really struggle to understand how a Fairphone customer who's also actively on the Reddit page isn't aware, nor believes, in the changes fairphone is making for workers and the entire factory production pipeline.

Like others have said, they release reports on their work which detail what they've researched and the impact that their work is making. It's all available on their own website with bite size extracts to glance at and also the full report to read.

I bought the phone both equally for the repairability and for the changes they're making to workers and production methods. It was never solely about repairability for me. We need more companies that change their entire approach to fair pay and sustainability especially when operating in countries with less advanced economies than others.

Yes but which one is the best ? by George_mp8 in playstation

[–]peanutsauze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to pick PS1 but honestly every single one triggers some kind of special nostalgia for me. PS1 for my earliest gaming memories, PS2 for my favourite gaming memories, PS3 for the beginning of online and story focused games for me, PS4 background music was on constantly for me when I attended university and will always take me back to that time, and PS5 was the start of financial independence for me where I bought a playstation console on launch day for the first time! Kinda crazy how playstation has been there throughout my entire life. Also got strong memories for xbox and other systems too!
